Man and boy is a pretty common/popular pairing including by people here. It's not my preference. I like sho with sho. But I don't mind it, especially when it's an older brother as is functionally the case here. And no, the homo isn't just for jokes and I don't think you can say it's baity given the ending. The homo is the main point of the entire manga, so yes, it's sometimes played for humor. But it's also just as often a source of sweetness and drama. We like Gon and Killua here and their relationship is used for humor sometimes and is way easier to accuse of being bait.
And yeah, I assumed you didn't like trap stuff. But given how common that is, I don't see why it would produce that kind of reaction. The venn diagram of Japanese artists who like shota and ones who like traps is almost a circle. We also have a girlysho thread here.

While I actually half agree with this complaint, it doesn't make sense in the context of your broader criticism. I don't agree that onii-chan is a doormat. But he is just sort of there and doesn't do much. But that's because so much of the focus is on Kei. So this is a perfectly valid critique of the writing, but not of it somehow being inadequately shotacon.
