There are constantly deer in my heavily populated neighborhoods and they are frequently walking into traffic, I think they're gentrified at this point and very foolish. One used the crosswalk by accident once though, it was extremely cute

If she were trying to go for a pasty, dead version of his warm skin tone he would look similar to how he did in S1, not slightly darker. The skin tone of Demon Al in S2 would belong to a man with darker skin than his human counterpart if we're going off of the 'he's dead so it's pastier' narrative.

What I don’t get is why Alastor’s skin colour is so tied to his human race when there are so many characters that have a weird skin colour that doesn’t exist in the human world. I think the topic of race and sexuality are very touchy for Viv, she seems absolutely terrified of the idea that someone *might* perceive her as racist or queer-phobic so she folds easily and tries to cover up the fact that she ever had different ideas. The fandom is what's more annoying to me, /hhg/ discourse will always be abysmal, but seeing those talking points bleed into the mainstream fandom is just gross. I can kind of see it from Viv's perspective, no matter what choices she makes there will always be a vocal minority that bitches and cries about it. So, I understand her being a bit cagey about things. I just wish she'd have the balls to be honest about her choices, and stand by them. There's no saving the fans though, I was always inclined to give them a bit of a pass because they seem young and aren't used to fandom spaces, but it just seems to be getting worse as time goes on. I don't really have any particular problem with Viv at this point, but I do think she handles criticism in an immature way. Most of us here can sperg out and argue with retards online because we're not massive content creators, but it's generally a good idea not to interact with your fans once you reach a certain level, or talk about the world/politics for that matter. Christian Borle does well with this, Amir and Viv not so much. Hopefully as Viv matures in the industry she learns that this isn't 2010 Tumblr and she needs to have more concrete world building and measured fan interaction. Personally I only take the show as hard canon, and maybe a few other things like the Citadel song since there are receipts from the show's crew. Things that Viv says out of pocket I see as soft canon because it can change in a heartbeat, and I dont even listen to Amir or Smiles, since they just muddy the waters. As far as /deer/ is concerned, I think only the folks actually interested in Al and the show made the transition to /cm/. An unfortunate amount of people on /hhg/ are only into Al for shipping purposes, and another large group of 'deer' posters are just skinwalking as us to bait people.

Apparently he trusts Charlie the most, which, duh, and apparently that means he is going to make some decisions because he trusts her. And he fears anyone who might inflict the same amount of damage on him as Adam did in the future.

I wonder why this is. It's not like Charlie has been super open with him? She seems to be very dismissive and suspicious of him throughout most of S1. Maybe he just sees her as a genuine person? My best guess is that they had a bonding moment after Charlie found out that Vaggie had been lying to her throughout their entire relationship.

Amir said that she had basically proven that her intentions were genuine. So possibly not something she explicitly did or said to Alastor, but he knows that she won't double-cross him like most of the other people in Hell. Plus there's still the favour she owes him, I think Alastor would be pleased that he has even that small amount of leverage over Charlie even if he hasn't exactly planned what to use the favour for yet.

Truthfully, Alastor may have very little experience with people who aren't out to hurt him in some way. His whole existence seems to be a power struggle...In his human life he had to overcome racism to work in the field he wanted, knowing his position in society was tenuous at best. He sold his soul out of fear of being abused or tortured himself once he died... It's probable that only his mother was genuinely good to him and her love for him wasn't some sort of trade off. Charlie genuinely caring about him for just him might endear her to him for this reason alone.

Yes, most people have an ulterior motive even if it's not outright malicious in nature. Charlie is different, she's genuinely selfless in what she wants to achieve and will go to great lengths to do it. Sinners being redeemed doesn't personally benefit her since she's not a sinner. I think Alastor would assume the worst of everyone, and Charlie has managed to prove to him that she's one of the rare individuals who doesn't just want to use him or hurt him. I think that Charlie has definitely come to see him as one of the Hazbin family, which is perhaps something he hasn't experienced since he was alive with his mother, despite how much it upset him in the finale song. I also think that the fact that Charlie doesn't try to look for Alastor in the time when the hotel was being rebuilt and waited for him to come back on his own could show that she has come to trust him just a little bit. He fought for the hotel and got pretty badly injured, even if Charlie doesn't know the extent of it, so I feel like that has to mean something.

It would be interesting for Alastor to see that not all people are bad. I feel like he probably has severe trust issues and fears of being hurt/abandoned, so he puts up a front of indifference to protect himself. Maybe if he lets the mask slip we can see the real Al underneath. It also puts him in a precarious situation since he's made a deal with Charlie, I think Al wouldn't mind fucking over most people, but now he sees Charlie as a friend and not someone to manipulate for his own ends. I wonder if the deal will help him escape Rosie in some way.

I kind of assume that's why he wanted to make a deal with Charlie. As the princess of Hell, she would have many uses so even if he can't make her hurt anyone, there are still a lot of things she can do for him. Even if it's just a way to get her to trust him, and make her amenable to another deal in the future without that restriction. Though Rosie encourages him to keep working with Charlie, so I guess she isn't too worried about them making deals. It will be interesting to see how things develop through season 2, that's for sure.
