Actually it's gonna have a really interesting premise but we won't get to develop it because the show will spend all it's runtime with boring shit before realising there's only 2 episodes left and rushing everything for the finale.

ideally, a spinoff show would be about a character that was either new, or someone that had so little screen-time that we knew almost nothing about them. They could do anything with them, and it wouldn't break character.

I don't agree. Your opinions don't become fact just because you speak them. I think they started out with good intentions with the idea that Finn had to "learn" something for character growth, but I also think they did wrote him in a way that's incongruent for his character, like manipulating his friend/girlfriend and mortal enemy to fight so that he could nut in his dreams.

Finn would never use a person's life in that away, especially not people he actually knows. Its not just that I don't like it, its that it goes against what I've learned about Finn and ultimately damages his character.

And we both know that's not the only scene where that happened.

I agree, the problem is that the “le anti finn” argument crumbles when you actually just cite the show itself, the takeaway that the show “hates Finn” is much more of an interpretation and a reach

Yeah they attempted to tackle a touchy subject in that episode and fumbled really hard and ended up butchering Finn’s character for 11 minutes, it alongside breezy are the only two episodes where in the show fucks up and you’ll barely find any people defending them

A Lars show about him being a space captain is one of three potential spinoffs people were actually asking for back in the day. The reasoning was that Lars is probably the most interesting townie character-wise even if you find him annoying, it'd be an easy way to get away from Steven's perspective, and space pirate adventures are cool. The other two that people often brought up were
>A prequel harem comedy titled "No Need for Greg" about a young Greg getting into wacky hijinx with the gems while they all wanted to jump his bones to varying degrees, something Sugar herself said the staff joked about during production
>Either a prequel or sidequel focusing on the Diamonds and how gem society actually worked, fleshing out their characters more while giving us a first-hand look into gem lore

I don't think the writers hate Finn. I do think they care so little for his character that they're willing to sacrifice him for plot point they think are "neat" regardless of if it damages him. You wouldn't see Fiona go through the things he does with the only lesson being "You fucked up, its all your fault, oh well".
