Why are some people so adamant about matchups like this being good ideas that deserve to happen? I cannot imagine death battle even considering doing 90% of the pitches or requests, especially when matchups like this are guaranteed to be lacking in the views department and probably wouldn't be particularly well-liked by the people who would see it if it did come out, outside of reddit of course.

The match up isn't hard to understand. They're both, or rather, were both angry, mindless rage monsters that were betrayed by the gods and seeking revenge, both of which gain power from their anger to fight harder.
The problem with the matchup is that Asura is blatantly leagues more powerful than Kratos and you'd have to bend over backwards multiple times to even get them in the same league, much less have Kratos win. Like, Kratos is a guy with zero speed feats, surely there's no way to argue that he can move at even supersonic speeds.

They do have connections, they serve pretty much the same role in their games, but everything else is true. There's nothing to analyse since they're featless, their fighting styles clash horribly, Judge's dialogue is long and annoying on purpose in-game and would be in the battle too, and you can't really make them fight without the setup being absolutely retarded. Frisk vs The Batter works much better in practice.

I always look at this and wonder how can fucking anyone think Kratos is some multiversal level being when he jobs to fucking rocks. Sans in general is retarded to powerscale, because the entire reason he's powerful at all is because he breaks the rules of combat established in Undertale. Such as attacking you during your turn, or dodging your attacks. You can't scale those kinds of mechanics, because they can only exist in the context of an RPG battle.
You can't scale 'Sans doesn't give you I-frames.' It makes no sense.

I generally don't mind wanking a character if it means that the fight is interesting, sure. One of the problems I have with it personally is that it's supposed to be two raging barbarians fighting each other and there's barely a drop of blood between them.
