Also since this AU was done before the third season was a thing, SOME things from the third season were not incorporated into my AU.

I'd suggest very low waist jeans and visible midriff (would work with the shirt in your new sketch I think? Small change that would still feel appropriate.
If you want to really lean into nordic goth-adjacent girl, this kind of plaid skirt was fairly common, usually with black kneesocks or something, but I think that look was for slightly younger girls than your take on Twintails.

They're fun to draw and horror is one of my favorite things. The Marra as a concept is fun. Green flames, causing nightmares and feeding on it, general ghastly abilities. I get a little overboard when I think I can draw spooky foggy backgrounds for a pic. Short as it was, them being stuck in the foggy realm with the eyes of the Fairy Isle wandering about and how Frida and David vanished the way they did was effectively scary, the first time watching it.

Those first two episodes of S3 were very creepy, I felt that too. Especially with the part of Johanna being super freaked out of Hilda ever going near a fairy mound but refusing to say why. Those scenes had great sound mixing to make it seem evil whenever Hilda went near it.

I think, or at most I conspiracy theory, that the original plot was that Johanna got kidnapped into a fairy mound as a kid. Astrid mentioned something like that happened but we never got to see it or hear more of it. That's why Johanna insisted from Astrid that there are no more fairy mounds in Tofoten and got super angry when she found out Astrid left one intact.

Possibly they might've said that Hilda was actually a fairy baby and not her real daughter. Not implying rape but to say the fairies literally left Johanna back on earth with an infant she adopted, as the myth goes. They reference this myth about baby snatching so many times in S3 and also in the novels but it never comes up with the actual fairies and why people keep saying they changeling babies.
It makes sense they mentioned it so many times if that was the original concept, that Hilda herself is a Fae changeling that was given to Johanna.
