>blythe baxter is cute, attractive, likeable. clever, but not so smart she's never wrong and can be quite dumb at times. always comes out on top, but not because she's that special or perfect but just because she's grounded and down to earth against people with personality issues in the first place. Is willing to take on problems, but also can be vulnerable, loving, nurturing, insecure etc
why did hasbro kid shows have like the only good girl characters in the age of so called feminist writing

Because they were made for girls not 30 year old women having an identity crisis

I liked that story where she got turned into a dog and reality changed around her.

Notice how the reason they cancelled this show is that the only fanbase that was watching it was the same fanbase they were having other optics problem with because its a certain fanbase were not allowed to talk about on this board.

Also, when they failed to reboot the series and made it entirely animal focused getting rid of characters like the Biskits guess what happened? Literally no one watched it

Its almost as if Mattel is very aware of who their core client base is but their core client base being an optics nightmare that gets in the way of grander profits with bigger demographics is why Mattel has been bleeding money since a certain show were not allowed to talk about ended.

Neh, I always had mixed feelings with Blythe, especially the final season.
S1 would let her be wrong and not always end in her favor, like when she fucks up Zoe's coat grooming. S4 however, she just resolves everything by either yelling, manipulating or ordering the pets to harass someone who unintentionally annoyed her.

I mean LPS was a hated show unfairly to most of the ponybase who dubbed it a "ripoff" for sharing voice talent and animation studio, meanwhile the real reason the 2012 LPS was shit canned was because the LPS collector community (yep that exists) was mad because the colors were too MLP neon and not realistic animal based

The LPS 2015 simply came too late, by then Discovery Family was dead aside from the horses

So yeah nice theory but not really. Also despite theories Hasbro didn't dislike or resent the adult fandom. This is obvious considering their sanctioning of the conventions, the 100th episode being nothing but fandom references as a celebration, and the late toyline literally having a unisex subline of articulated action figures and collector statues

You're out of your mind if you believe this. Im not gonna try and turn this into a brony discussion but just to touch on it briefly Gen 4 realistically could have gone on forever and it would have been Hasbro's version of Spongebob where its an IP that is so profitable it can go on generationally nonstop. The reason why Gen 5 failed is because the bronies that dominate that core sector of their financial quarters make it so its impossible for Hasbro to reshape their image its permanently ruined because of them despite the money that core of people routinely gives into them

But tying it all back, Littlest Pet Shop failed because the most popular characters were the humans and not the pets themselves. They should have realized people just wanted a show about Blythe and the Biskits with all the animals simply not being a factor. Missing the point of this or simply doubling down, thats why when they made the second series it sold even worse.

Hasbro will never get rid of what they created and they know this.

The show audience for LPS 2012 wasn't representative of the whole toy buying market, who many didn't like the humans or the new aesthetic. LPS is a much smaller fandom but it was very Truck not Munky, but from like 13 years old girls on YouTube who still collected these bobblehead thingies

MLP G4 could have kept going yes, but it had 9 seasons making it the longest running Hasbro show next to Rescue Bots. Their typical formula is to always reboot properties because toylines come first, and those get rebooted every few years when a new generation ages out/in or so usually

The post G4 pony shit didn't have the things the G4 audience liked, it's like comparing TF Prime to RiD2015, but regardless of G4 still dominating public consciousness of the brand (literally still see NEW G4 merch all the time littered among the newer Gen merch) I think the brand is probably fine for Hasbros previous standard of it simply selling toys to parents for their daughter. I mean I haven't bothered seeing the recent genes but I can at least tell they're higher effort/appeal than what came before G4 and post G1, which was some of the most generic, cheap, and vapid "little girls show who cares" stuff more along the lines of like those CHI 2010s Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake shows, just zero effort no appeal shit for three year old girls where a whole episode is like about a character sniffing flowers or crying cause they got called a dorky face or w/e

They should have considered making more toys of the Biskits then.

Don't talk on everyone's behalf. The pets get way more fanart than Blythe. YOU want to fuck the Biskits.

Toy sales were low, yes, but he show itself was doing perfectly fine as far as rating were concerned. Unfortunately Hasbro couldn't care less about ratings.

No, the pets were popular, especially, Zoe, Sunil and Pepper.
Minka was the only pet very few viewers gave a shit about.

I think the main issue with LPS is that it and its western contemporaries were always competing with Sanrio, which has had consistently superior marketing and legacy. The characters are much more tasteful and customizable as the audience grows older. What's left of the LPS community is coombrains and adults with an honest fixation, which isn't many, whereas Hello Kitty makes a skibidillion every season in merch and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future
Anonymous No.149074834 [Report]
>>149074702
Not one person in the West has ever watched Sanrio shows man. It's just a popular brand most people think as being like Lisa Frank, a brand not a show. I don't think Hello Kitty ever even aired in the US and if it did, nobody remembers it

It's also because gacha and other collectibles is still incredibly niche rather than a somewhat mainstream hobby when it comes to Japanese markets. The West only ever got into something like gacha with the advent of them being in mobage
