There is never a "coherent narrative" to any of the adventures, the narrative is the character building between the circus cast. Most of the episodes of the ENTIRE show are just characters talking and walking. The narrative this episode was Jax getting to know Ragatha and Jax, and ending up more on his side over Ragatha, leaving her completely alone. Its building up character relationships and advancing them beyond just "fun gang messing around"

feels like a we were only giving so many episodes but these are the other episode we would have done if we had the episode count kind of episode.

Jax was a real person in the Circus, but Caine accidently deleted him and quickly replaced him with an NPC that's programmed to believe it's Jax and never do anything to give away the truth. The real Jax had a tail, but Caine juts forgot to add one to the nuJax. Jax's old friend knew that the nuJax wasn't the real Jax and stopped being his friend before abstracting.

FINAL THOUGHTS?
I thought it was alright, it's definitely the funniest episode so far. Bubble's antics were gold and the disappearing man gag was really well set up. The experimental nature of the episode was interesting, everything felt rushed but it will probably be better appreciated on rewatches. It's a shame the "plot" is seemingly a two-parter with episode 6, there's a lot I want to know about Jax. The writing was okay, but there's not really a divide between the wacky parts and the serious parts, the stargazing scene especially felt sudden, but I'd rather that over no development. The evil team *was* a letdown, in a character focused show I thought a team of opposites would lead to more introspection, but we didn't get that

6/10, something about the writing felt off this episode. Gax's dialogue was cheesy in parts. The premise was a lot of fun but there wasn't a clear enough story tying things together so scenes felt disjointed at parts.

I think they wanted a lighter episode especially compared to the previous one. But instead it just feels off tonally compared to what we've seen so far, it almost feels a bit derailed compared to the main series.

Ragatha is 100% going to abstract and it will be technically Jax's fault. Goose has said this is the last "wacky" episode and things get way more intense from here on out, and I think seeing a character we've seen for a while get abstracted would be the type of shock to change the narrative permanently. It would also fit with her constant warnings that the show wont be what people want and that things will happen most people wont like.

Weakest episode by far. Lots of character building up for the lore nuts to go crazy over, but it was practically all just delivered as random exposition dumps before cutting to the next LOLRANDOM scenario.

I don't even really get why Pomni is softening on Jax at this point other than to force drama with Ragatha. so this episode is definitely slow and filled with filler, which is obviously disappointing given the wait we had to undergo in order to get here. with that said, i am also aware that when it comes to live releases like this, you sometimes has to prepare for the 're-watches'. what i mean by this is sometimes you have to add slow paced episodes in a rolling release so that when people re-watch the show all at once, the pacing as a whole is better. obviously for us who are watching it now, a filler episode feels like a huge waste. i imagine, however, depending on the direction future episodes take we could see that the pacing of such an episode works really well with the show as a complete package. this is something that we will only know with time.

It really is a nothing episode that mostly is just ship fodder. But I'm a sucker for it and I like the weird love triangle going on between Jax/Pomni/Ragatha. I think it really is hitting her that you shouldn't talk down to the 25 year old, it seems to be Pomni's easiest pain point and why she doesn't relate with Pomni.
It does make really appreciate Hunter: The Parenting's audiolog episodes. This really felt like an episode that didn't really needed to be animated, but have pretty important interactions to setup. The grabbag concept is fun, but Caine is right. A story without tension and stakes is pretty boring and his adventures helps keep the gang off of each other's throats.

Also the intermission bit is really good.

If this episode is filler just because characters talk and hang around, then what do you think the last two episodes were? Its the same case of the adventure being just the setting for character building. Thats literally what the show is about. You need a big monster to threaten the characters (even though they cant die) so you can understand the point of a story.

Yeah, no shit he's going to get steamed about it, because he knows what it looks like to a group of people who probably won't give him any sympathy. The thing is, he does eventually kind of get over it. Still annoyed and uncomfortable about it, but is able to actually do stuff and talk to other people. Again, the reason the humiliation is drawn out at all is because of Zooble.

there are good jokes in the show but they're the ones that go by without it being a big deal. if the entire scene stops to make a joke there's a 90% chance it's going to be dogshit. situational comedy and visual gags are what MD does best.
