Third episode is probably my second least favorite episode, fair enough. The bar scene is just really off for me, for a few reasons. You're telling me these group of people who have presumably been stuck together for what seems to be quite a while at this point have never realy talked about this? Like Pomni and Zooble were kind of okay about it, though I feel like Pomni said a bit too much. Ragatha and Gangle joining in felt so pointless though, the most interesting thing to take away from that scene is the fact that people didn't know about Kinger's wife. The whole point of having low-stakes situations is to see how these characters who have been thrust into non-stop adventures would act when there is some sense of normalcy, which is why I preferred the star-gazing and fast food settings. It's why the bar only really works for Zooble instead of everyone else suddenly deciding to spill shit. Hell, the comfy scene from the second episode where Kinger talks about Ragatha when she first showed up was amazing. It was small, but impactful.

When I say filler, I mean they waste the characters' times, I don't get anything meaningful out of their interactions, the episode can be broken down like this:

4 used to be my least fav, but thing started clicking on me more and more, and now i appreciate it a lot. 3 was my formed fav, Kinger is a great character. 2 is great, Gummigoo is a neat exploration on NPCs. 1 sets the series nicely, great introduction. Today's episode, 5, might be the funniest yet it's too disjointed compared to the rest. Great jokes mean no much when the episode is still this weak. Still easily a 7/10, but when the rest is 9/10 (or 10/10 in 4's case), yeah this episode is weak by design, and intromission. They still set interesting things up, specially with Jax and Ragatha, and i wanna see more of them and whatever is going on between these dorks.

Every adventure aside from Episode 2's happens because of Zooble, not Pomni. Without her, episodes 3-5 wouldn't even happen, and Episode 1 would have gone completely differently:

Zooble's reluctance results in Caine actually making use of the suggestion box, which of course is one of Gangle's plans. We get to see Zooble actually will get involved if it will make a friend happy

The rapid fire suggestion box comes up because Zooble has sat out of another adventure, forcing Caine to take a desperate measure. It's Zooble's bar scene that also gets them all to sit down and talk about their life outside the Circus for once


As for Gangle, she exists solely so Jax can have a punching bag that won't fight back, otherwise his own character direction would go nowhere as it would just be him mocking one of the other girls who can defend themselves or mocking Kinger who wouldn't give a fuck

I just wish it was spread out a bit more, I agree Zooble is relevant, but the fact that half the episode had to cut to her for it was annoying. I wish it was integrated a bit better. Same with Ragatha. She gets like two scenes for her conflict (excluding the ending). Gangle's whole thing was woven throughout the whole of last episode. While Kinger was slowly regaining his sanity and had a heartfelt moment with Pomni as its conclusion. Ragatha losing her shit at the end of this episode didn't really feel earned, you know? Jax was handled better, but that's just because he's basically the same as always. I just really appreciate the star-gazing part, because they had something fucking great going on there for the relevant characters.

They ARE spread out anon. Ragatha was having issues with Pomni since the end of Episode 1. And she was burying her issues with Pomni abandoning her in episode 2 and felt all kinds of ways about Pomni. We're finally starting to delve into it at Episode 5. We didn't get insight of how Caine would handle being told his adventures are shit until the episodes after.

TADC's entire deal is that it cuts between POV characters often. It did that constantly even if it was just to tell a joke. If it's not your cup of tea that's fine but calling them "filler" is misguided criticism. All episodes introduced and further explored things that are consequential to the endgame of Digital Circus.

Anon, you're missing my point. I agree with what you're saying about all the other episodes, which is exactly why I like them. You're right, Ragatha has been developed really well up to this point. My issue is the fifth episode drops the fucking ball on that. Instead of elaborating on it properly, like I said, they dick around pointlessly and only offer her a couple scenes in this episode relevant to her plight. Everything up to the star-gazing scene is fine, you get silliness and then some really good character moments. After that it nosedives because they give you the pointless bar scene which is nothing but pointless exposition which could've been delivered way better and more subtly (see previous episode). It doesn't contribute shit to Ragatha. Then after that we have the baseball part which had a chance to give her more, but it doesn't. She fucks up one swing, gets her one other scene building up the drama and then blows up later for no earned reason. I agree that Pomni befriending Jax and getting further from Ragatha was definitely how this was always going to go, but they don't give that the proper development it deserved in this episode, unlike the rest of the show.

I mean I think it got summed up pretty well in the episode itself, she's a people pleaser who wants to be buddy buddy with everyone but as a result comes off fake after a while. Couple that with the fact that the new girl she wanted to try and be friends with is slowly connecting more with the guy she only really tolerates at best to keep everyone else from seeing her actual feelings. Jax is connecting with Pomni because of the smaller moments where his facade cracks a bit and she's relatively chill about it even if she extends the opportunity to talk more. Gangle and Zooble are getting closer because Zooble sees what Gangle could be and Gangle's begun looking up to Zooble. That leaves Ragatha more or less alone, all her relations with the others are shallow because she refuses to let anyone in causing her to crash out if she loses her self-control for even a moment.
