Pixar couldn't make a movie that appeals to boys if their lives depended on it, getting rid of Lasseter with hugging accusations was not a genius move.

The only question is when will Disney merge Pixar into Disney Animation, Pixar is bleeding so much money.

Anyways enough about yourself.
Doremi made it popular again in the 2000s.
Some of the stuff they got sway with was crazy, like the Reika bunny suit scene.
It's just they mostly censored middle fingers and hard swearing after the 90s there.

To put this in comparison, Toy Story 1 without accounting for inflation, in a time where movie tickets were drastically cheaper and Pixar was a new studio who couldn't get their film to be in nearly as many movie theaters, made 33 million dollars.

Elio is the most expensive animated film ever, and it is doing catastrophically bad.

Why were we even gaslit on this style being good?
I remember animation Twitter was shilling it because "it's easier on the artists' and that "old 80s and 90s cartoons all had the same designs" too.
Fucking retards are then wondering why there aren't any original cartoons anymore, because they keep consuming the slop regardless of quality.

My wager is that sci-fi demands world building that goes beyond the main characters. You can't do like Lilo and Stitch where you tease this bigger world but since the story is more about a human family in a modern city it connects better with the audience. Treasure Planet might be based off of a classic book but the world is soaked in all these elements of robots, aliens and sci-fi that the core story gets lost on the normies. That's the irony of their one success, WallE, was because the whole movie was built around the lore/world that WallE and Eve lived in, so you masses were never front loaded with questions of why everything was the way it was like in Mars Needs Moms, and Lightyear, nor tuning out because the more interesting elements were ignored for the sake of following the cast, which was the major issues with Elio, and Strange World.

Herculoids is a 60 year old show that some people still kind of care about, at least enough to occasionally post threads about it as a forgotten cartoon. In 60 years, no one is even going to care about Elio enough to talk about it as a forgotten cartoon.

>Disney is terrible at appealing to boys

I'm more annoyed at how many defend Disney as being for everyone in the family including the male members. You would think that by now any time Disney announces or shows a new trailer to a series or movie many boys and men would go "Not buying because we know its NOT for us."

But sadly many fucking idiots still give Disney the benefit of the doubt. This is how shit like the live action remakes like for Aladdin and Lion King are so successful. And this is how shit like Toy Story 4 is successful.

I wish men and boys divorced from Disney but those idiots seem to love being shat on by Disney. Men and boys get what they deserve for buying into it.

We already have to deal with Toy Story 5 and Coco 2 officially. And after enduring Gay Inside Out 2 its safe to say Pixar is nothing more than a sequel factory. Or did you already forget about Finding Dory and Incredible 2 and speaking of which Incredibles 3 is on its way.

Pixar is a Sequel Factory. Its time to fucking admit it. For crying out loud we already got a prequel to Monsters Inc as well. Get over it, Pixar is banking on Old Glory properties. They're dead creatively but they are rich because their fans are fucking idiots who will buy anything.

>Disney is terrible at appealing to boys

Of course, Disney's bread and butter has always been shitty girls with old movies like Lady and the Tramp. Disney and I mean Walt Disney has never understood how to make anything that appeals to the male sex. He himself is a Father of a Daughter so of course he didn't know jack shit about making great media for men. That's one of the reasons Walt Disney's Live Action attempts from yesteryear were lame shit that no one liked and it nearly helped kill the Walt Disney Company because if Disney could not make masculine animation much LESS could they make masculine live action cinema.

Seriously which do you think is more universally popular, the Disney Zorro series or the live action Zorro movies made by other studios? The answer is Zorro movies made by other studios. Enough said. There's just something effeminate and sanitized and gay about how Disney handles media which is anti male.

I don't think they can make a sequel to Wall E because by and large no one gives a damn about the characters. No one likes the obese humans. And Wall E and Eve aren't popular characters compare them to say Stitch who you know has had Cross Generation appeal no one cares about Wall E and Eve.

As for Ratatouille it does lend itself to a sequel but not a good one, Chef Skinner was never arrested he's free and he knows the secret of Linguini's success with the rat that can cook he can come back and for a second time hilariously fail to expose Remy being a cooking rat. So it would be a rehash of the first movie.

I really just don't get what is supposed to make this movie worth a damn. Because it's an original IP? Like Pixar hasn't had hundreds of those? I see the "for the art" crowd talking about it like we need to make a last stand here or art dies, and it's just confusing to me. More than being ugly, the film has no visual identity. Incredibles, that had a visual identity to it, a look to it, it was stylish. The Art Deco / meta-aware Silver Age comic book thing, and the cool costume designs, the stylized character shape language. I even watched that gay Kpop powerpuff girls movie last night purely on the strength of the visuals - at least it did the Spiderverse lo-fi framerate thing and had some genuine freakout anime toon expressions that you pretty much never see in western 3D feature films. This shit just looks old, a decade behind, and so tired.
Make your shit look good for Christ's sake. Take a risk, rather than being safe AND lame at the same time.

>cool alien design
It seriously bugs me how "juicy" and springy and worm-feeling the alien buddy is, actually. Pixar has been doing this shit for decades now. They pushed the envelope on naturalism, but people are bored with it. They try this Steven Universe semi-flat style FINALLY, but their approach is STILL too naturalistic. It's like they can only conceptualize design at the most literal and objective level, and can't or won't go beyond into the abstract, the subjective.
I fundamentally hate the way Pixar characters *move* at this point. Spiderverse was sloppa, but it really gave the industry a shot in the arm in terms of showing a different, non-naturalistic approach. Now the risk is that its success will prove too immense and artists will stop innovating there as well.
