I'm not sure how much more even Celebrity vs Homelander is. Celebrity can make a barrier that probably nullifies the heat vision, and lifting the cruise ship is a much bigger feat than the highest postulated Homelander strength feat. Besides, Homelander and All Might are proven draws with their episodes being the highest viewed of their season with Homelander's episode being outlier-tier popular. By this Iean looking at opponent's popularity/ age of their their franchise/ genre...etc meta data and then trying to find a coralation between matchups and victory. Piccolo does destroy the door when Tien and Krillin can't budge it. I honestly have no idea how strong Tien is supposed to be at this point because he and the others effectively only got half as much training from King Kai as Goku did. Given his performance against Semiperfect Cell, I think Tien mostly just focused all his training into raising his Genki so that he could improve his Kikoho into the Shin Kikoho.
Krillin is harder to place, he chooses to train at Kame House instead of with Goku, Piccolo, and Gohan. He's probably the strongest one of the humans since he got a potential unlock, but without prime training partners he doesn't grow nearly fast enough. He's probably about as strong as Vegeta was when he first landed on Namek.
I think part of the hesitation to blast the door open is from seeing Yamcha get injured as badly as he did and being unable to sense androids. Most attack options would kick up smoke and leave them open to surprise attack.

If you want a death battle framework that isn't asinine you do it like this:

You start off by analyzing the various powers, past battles, etc of the two characters and boiling things down to this simple question: how does this guy win fights? What are his finishing moves that actually defeat an opponent? What does this guy have as options when it comes to actually WINNING? For the moment, ignore all other things about the character and just focus on their win conditions.

Then, you go down the list of win conditions of each character, and debate whether or not the other guy has a counter. This will basically boil down to three outcomes for each win condition: would work, would fail, and 'depends'. A superstrong punch would obviously work to defeat Batman, would obviously fail to defeat Superman, and is a 'depends' on the Flash because while it might work there are enough bullshit defenses in the way that you can't be certain he won't just phase through it or whatever so it depends on the conditions it happens in.

Depends is also how we handle ambiguity between power systems, where its genuinely unclear how two sets of rules interact. It COULD go one way, but it could also go the other. If a strong enough argument can't be made for either outcome, it defaults to a 'Depends'.

Onscreen showing beats informed ability every time there is a contradiction, and citing a time a character FAILED is just as valid as citing a success. A stated immunity that has been beaten multiple times isn't a real immunity.

You do this for each win condition for both characters, and then you simply tally up which character is most likely to win based on the fewest assumptions necessary. If character A has 1 way that will surely work, and the other character has 3 ways to win but they are all depends, then the first character will probably win. The second character *could* win the fight, but is playing longer odds to do so than the guy with a confirmed win condition.

The problem is that Miles is a decent character for the *specific* situation that he was created for, and has basically just been a tumor on the spiderman franchise ever since he got 'rescued' into a main timeline where Peter is still alive.

No matter how many times they claim that Miles is his own hero and can do his own thing, the fact is inescapable that he CAN'T. He only exists in relation to Spiderman. He is a reflection of an original. For all of the time that he has been around, they have yet to give him his own cast of characters, his own themes, his own arc that isn't just being in the middle of a bunch of other Spidermen copies.

If Miles had continued to be Spiderman in a world where Peter had died, he'd be fine. He would be the new Spiderman, and some people would be upset that Peter was gone but thats ALWAYS true when you replace a character with a successor.
Without that context, however, Miles is perpetually fucking stuck running in place. He can't be Spiderman, because Peter is Spiderman, but the bullheaded insistence that Miles gets to be Spiderman *too* means that he's prevented from growing into his own character in any meaningful or interesting way.

Well like he says himself, Yggdrasil isn't just every planet, it's every story. The entire point of Agent of Asgard is the nature of stories and myth, and how perception of different stories changes reality. I think this is true to an extent, like I said it's just a pretty common comic trope. In said issue with Bi-Beast for example, Man-Beast (someone relative to Bi-Beast) causes him to grunt with his blows, and then Thor still one-shots Bi-Beast when he actually goes all out. It's very common in comics for sandbagging to be a trope for there to be a fight in the first place, and I don't think it really reflects on the characters in question as a result.
I do totally agree it's silly to say Thor holds back against big villains and threats, and if he says he's not holding back then he's probably not holding back. I would basically just say I think it means you can't take, for example, Mr Hyde stunning him with his blows in early JIM as a serious indication of his strength when any reader or writer is going to think to his big moments first as what reflects his true power, see the Marvel Handbooks, but that at the same time he does have clear failings.

Another thing with Thor is that his striking power should logically be > his physicals simply because he has a fucking hammer, which should also, in theory, make him be capable of beating foes that are physically as strong or even stronger than him, but don't have an equivalent weapon. So, say, him knocking out Bi-Beast by hammering his face in doesn't necessarily mean Thor is stronger than Bi-Beast (maybe he is in this particular case, but you get the point)

I can get what you mean, and I am to an extent moreso gesturing at vague ill-defined comic tropes and vibes, I'm moreso saying that I don't think writers envision "X rando villain caused Thor to grunt with a blow" as then precluding his bigger feats of durability or strength, the writer of the Bi-Beast/Man-Beast fight is also the one who wrote this only 10 issues later for example, because it's not reflective of anything outside of the necessities of that fight in a lot of cases. This does go both ways though.
On the hammer point it would get into a matter of how Thor is generally able to punch out characters who can take full blows from Mjolnir, his fight with Beta Ray Bill under Simonson is a good example, so it would depend on how big the disparity is between him and his opponents in a lot of fights. There's a couple of statements that Mjolnir doubles Thor's strength, which I don't think is literal but is probably about right anyways.
