>>149185213 (OP)Hey! I was about to make a thread of this too! Anyway, I'm glad to see more dino content in animation, praying to see more of this.
>>149185213 (OP)That ending makes no sense!
>>149185213 (OP)I was going to post that! Was on the captcha and everything. Anyway glad it finally exists and iirc this is about the most indie of Indie shows ever made so finger crossed it makes enough waves to let the production stay afloat.
>>149185277It makes sense if you Intuit that picking a new power ranger means releasing the previous voltron pilots of that element from the crystal prison.
>>149185327Not that, is when the spino is actually a good character and TOTALLY forgets about killer the little raptor's mom and the revenge arc propping like a rock
>every dinosaur has feathers
Look I'm no anti-featherfag but stop assuming all dinosaurs were either all feathered or all scales. We have fucking evidence that some had scales, some had feathers. STOP IT.
>>149185468The dakotaraptors are literally the only ones shown with feathers.
>>149185213 (OP)Nice, I made a thread too but got stuck on the captcha.
>>149185213 (OP)I had to rewatch it to notice that Talon takes on the coloring she had during the initial teaser trailer at the very end.
wtf is this "things I badly wanted to exist in the 2000s" shit... isn't it kind of late? do they honestly think this could get greenlit?
>>149185468I like how they can't decide if you can have both on one body or not. sometimes they insist the scales on a bird's legs are scutes only. None of these people knows anything.
>>149186037that's a girl? pretty brightly colored and such a prominent head crest, I assumed male.
why is she defending wee mammals.
>>149185213 (OP)I dig the concept as an autist because I LOVE dinosaurs.
>>149186136you fool, everyone loves dinosaurs. that is the primary characteristic of dinosaurs: being liked
wtf are these long-front-limb sauropods, they don't look like brachiosaurs. well the one being inexplicably rescued entirely by her teeth does, kinda. nostrils are weird. but the other two lack the head dome, which the males would surely have more of..
wait is this the same setting as that show about heaven vs hell? the talking tree rock thing and wizard guy were the same i think
>>149185213 (OP)Just got done watching this. It was pretty good, although I felt Fury was too easily forgiven for, you know, killing Talon's mom.
I get they were influenced by Ringing Bell from that but....unless this is meant to go a much darker route, that's not exactly something to draw inspiration from.
>>149185431Yeah, I felt like everyone got over that way too quickly. "Yeah so she just killed your mother, so what?"
>>149187194I think I can kind of understand what they were going for. Talon was entirely motivated by revenge after her momโs death, and holding on to that anger and desire for vengeance isnโt healthy and would definitely have gotten her killed. I feel like they just didnโt have time to properly address it in the end. They apparently already have a script up for a second episode, so weโll see if thereโs any followup.
>>149185213 (OP)>Sapient dinosaurs >Humanoid wizards >Galactic entities and threats>Primordial powers>Raptor character named TalonThis feels like a G-rated version of Primal Rage. The only thing missing is the post-apocalyptic Earth with neo-caveman tribes that worship the dinosaurs.
>>149187617I guess
Still, would love to see more of this show.

>>149185213 (OP)I can instantly clock that these designs are by furries, but I can't put my finger on what the furry design elements are.
Is it me or does every character stick their tongue out when they talk?
>>149189685Only ever played the arcade version of it at a resort in Kentucky. I sucked at it, but it stuck in my mind because the concept was fucking brilliant. It combined the three biggest draws for 90's kids in one game; giant dinosaurs and monsters, post-apocalypse setting, and cartoonishly bloody videogame violence.
Still pissed that the franchise got canned when Midway acquired Atari because they didn't want any competition for Mortal Kombat at the time. The setup for future stories and sequel games in that setting had more potential than MK's martial arts soap opera that was already getting old.
>>149185431>>149187194My crazy theory is "animation is hard and making it shorter means more easier". So emotional journeys are compressed and put on fast forward, because it is simply easier.
>>149189715It's the cuteness and huggability. A lot of the cuteness is in the head/face, the face is made expressive like human, while retaining the overall animal skull/snout. And more often than not very developed hips and thighs but that is the secret ingredient.
>>149190364Porn of Talon when?
>>149185213 (OP)It looks great, but I found it pretty boring. Feels to me like you could come up with a show about dinosaurs and magic that doesn't need 3/4 of the episode to be exposition. I would have legitimately preferred one of those old shows where the theme song or an opening narration contains the entire premise.
>>149191170Later, and I won't be the one to make it.
>>149185213 (OP)Alright finished watching, I enjoyed it
Feel like killing the mom was a bad choice and should have just had her get injured or crippled
Season 1 villain has a cool design
Exposition was pretty short so I get what's going on
Felt it could have been shorter
Overall, it's good and interested in what they could do if given more episodes
>>149191170Porn of Fury now pls.
>>149189786Only the dinos do
Probably because they're mouths are so big and long
>>149190364No, I wouldn't use such positive words for it. Cartoon dinosaurs have been cute and expressive before without it being overtly fetish material.
I wouldn't call a land before time furry.
Maybe it's just the colors.
>>149192109Because Land Before Time was trying to be accurate to """real""" dinosaurs (despite having larger more expressive eyes), and Seven Spielberg is one of the biggest dinosaur autists in the world. So more realistic bodies and less OC design.
>>149189715It's because they're kinda sexy, right?
>>149185213 (OP)I like the concept, but the pilot has problems it needs ironing out. I'm hoping for the best because I really want to see more magical dinosaurs.
>>149185213 (OP)My first thought was "SFW Darbi". There are quite a few similar ideas used in both and the genre of "magical dino" is not a very robust one, so you notice them immediately.

Finished it
So...it's literally Mortal Kombat with dinosaurs. Only magic aliens instead of eldritch gods (same thing perhaps) At least the reboot where chosen champions have unlocked auras to give them powers to fight with on behalf of defending their realm.
>>149195289You didn't notice the piss rays from the whizzard when he was helping them fight (That's allowed? Is he just champion like them but from a different planet? Or is he gonna be Raiden and one of the ruling powers that stepped down to help mortals?)
>know literally nothing going in
>cute dinos doing cute things + mystery rock
>suddenly a fucking wizard comes out and gives the raptor speech
alright, can't say i expected that
>>149186181>that show about heaven vs hell
Something I hope they address is, they apparently already have champions given Fury has the lightning aura and can talk and all, as well as the fire stego at the end. Why do they even need to look for new champions? What can Talon and the others do that the other champions canโt?
>>149196223Good question. I hope the answer is satisfactory and not needlesly convoluted for the sake of drama or convinience. I hate when characters who have no reson not to speak up about something avoid answering a question or revealing an important information when doing so would vclearly benefit them.
>>149196411>>149196223Did you guys forget that Fury literally tried to murder the talking rock the minute they freed her? If the other trapped ones feel the same way they clearly arenโt loyal or dependable. I imagine they want champions who will actually be morally good on their own right and can be trusted.
>>149196432>Did you guys forget that Fury literally tried to murder the talking rock the minute they freed her?No you silly willy, we ask the question: why? Why and how were they imprisoned, why is the crystal guy releasing them and why do they want him dead yet are willing to bargain and train new champions? Will the new champions get imprisoned as well when they stop being useful or overuse their power? There is potential for a cool backstory here OR a possibility for a convoluted mess full of awful tropes. I hope for the former, but when a character tries to kill someone, then tries to kill his child recruits and then actually kills soneone, only to finally go with the plan of the guy they were trying to kill in the first place and train the child soldiers, without even trying to explain their motives to the newbies, it feels like the latter.
>>149187845my first thought too lol
>>149196601If there isn't a damn good intrigue plot basis to thread to needle which to be clear i do nt believe there is since i don't have faith that this team will be first time swing and a hit superstars.
In lieu of an actually smart balancing game to make everyone's actions make sense then probably the best way to patch this up a bit is later defining that there are magic to contracts holding fury to the arbitrary terms of whatever she'd priorly agreed to on behalf of rock Zordon.
>>149191170I -think- this is the first porn.
Why even bother with a talking spell?
Why not just have everyone talk in English from the start?
>>149197294Because someone will bitch about Dinos randomly being able to communicate with humanoids
>>149196797I find it really odd that franchise didn't get an animated adaptation back in the 90's. It was the perfect time with all the popularity around dinosaurs and Armageddon. The closest we got were four mediocre comics and one shitty tie-in novel for the cancelled sequel.
>>149190364>>149189715In contrast with the dinosaur designs from TLBT, those from Talon have sleeker silhouettes. Furthermore, the latter's bodies are less cartoony, knobbly, and wrinkly than those of the former, and their eyes are more anime-ish as well.

As first impressions go that was...hm. I may have to mull on it for a bit
It's not BAD or anything but previously mentioned criticisms like the MC speedrunning hate and despair to accept the lightning spino as a teacher do stick out
You could have easily changed this to just having her mother get badly wounded and thus left out of the beginning of the hero journey instead of trying to LBT it and make her start with the loss of a family member
I'm totally on board with more dino time and think I like the audacious nonsense of the premise being Land Before Time meets VLD but the constraints of this being a small timer indie project do show already with the aforementioned light speed pace of certain developments

>>149210560They anthropomorphize the dinosaurs too much and they constantly cut to modern day paleontologists at staged dig sites. What a surprise!
>>149221871Not from around here are you?
>>149222209Oh, I remember now
What about him again?
>>149185213 (OP)Qrd on why we hate this?
>>149222951>hateWho are you quoting?
>>149192140One would reckon a dinosaur autist would at least be able to tell a raptor from a deinonychus
>>149185213 (OP)Good to know I wasn't the only person in the world who had a stray thought that dinosaurs would be cool with magic as a kid. There was an old dinosaur RP forum no not ERP it was pretty much all tweens where I played a few characters, one of them was a velociraptor and I thought it would be cool if the velociraptor could do magic. But the admin girl thought that was stupid and shut my idea down. NOW, 15 YEARS LATER, I CAN FINALLY FEEL VINDICATED.
>>149210130Did /co/ watch the ARK cartoon?
Did you like it?
>>149217528>2. mosasaurThis is going to be like all the 2000s Aquaman jokes except unironically. >inb4 it can walk on land

>>149223214I don't think anyone saw it lol
>>149223277Apparently they can summon water spouts. Don't know the viability of over land travel.
>>149218412Oh, fuck, sorry. I was thinking of the Capcom franchise.

>people call the glaringly obvious rigging in this "older style of animation"
This is how little the average normalfag knows about animation, if it's 2D and looks semi-realistic it's "old style" now
>>149223068Play Primal Rage if you haven't already
>>149224014Primal Rage's controls might have been pretty janky, but the setting, characters and stop-motion animation for that game were pretty great for the time. Combined the best of Conan's brutal sword and sorcery elements, post-apocalyptic settings that aren't nuclear holocaust, and giant monster fights.
Plus, you could also eat neo-caveman worshippers for health refills mid-match. That was a pretty neat mechanic.
>>149225829Yeah that'll be great fighting the aliens
>>149223277I highly doubt the whole show will have the entire cast together all the time.
>>149218998I ship all of them with human anons
Well Iโll say it
Primal crossover pics when?
>>149229441cute triceratops girl
Thread's slow. Post other dinosaur series you kinda liked.

>>149231290I see Chester Cheetah and The Cheesasaurus Rex were big influences on you.
>>149231414They weren't but there's no denying the resemblance. He too loves eating processed cheese.
>>149231290What would this be about?
>>149232213Remember those cool and capable 90's mascots who had all their shit together, often leading crime fighting teams? That's not what this is about.
This is about a young naive leader trying to be one of those, but woefully inexperienced and screwing up all the time. It's not played off as parody, we learn of his imposter syndrome that he's afraid to confess to the others, but doesn't get how long the journey is and just wants his development done quickly.
Him and the others have legitimate reasons behind their ambitions and putting in the effort to better their abilities and themselves, and come together as a capable unit. Their mishaps can be funny, but I want the audience to attach to the fact they're trying. There's 3 other mains with their own stories and faults.
It's not the most complex thing of all time (though I'm still learning how complex the production process is), I just grew attached to the characters and world, and want to tell at least one story with them.
>>149229441This reminded me of a book I once saw in a book shop as a kid. The cover was a human guy on the right and a tall green T-Rex in a suit on the left looking at him angrily. I think the whole book had pictures of dinosaurs wearing office clothes throughout. It's hard to remember, I only it once many years ago. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
>>149228969Feeling daring today are we?
>>149204534>sound like black VA'swhat does that sound like?
>>149237788I guess anon felt threatened?
>>149185431Well, she said she was sorry :)
What's that? She didn't even apologize?
Oh. Uhhhhhhhhhh
Look over there, shiny magic shit!
Man would it be too much for someone to do a beast wars inspired series
>>149185213 (OP)What even is a Talon?
>>149241833Talon is a character from Primal Rage, you know, the game the video was ripped off of.
>>149241876>lounging in the sun like a boss>harem of sexy raptor wives>lots of kids that strong, loyal apex predator dinos>endless supply of neo-cavemen to use for food and sport huntingTalon's arcade ending was peak comfy.
>>149242347Baffling that Riptor didnt have a Talon costume in KI3.
>>149242372I'm more surprised Warner Bros. hasn't done anything with the franchise other than letting NRS put a few Primal Rage arcade cabinets in the stage background for the last two Mortal Kombat entries. Seems like it'd be a good opportunity for a revival given the recent uptick in interest dinosaurs and giant monster films have had.
>>149185213 (OP)>mammal companionQuick, dino nerds. When were squirrels invented?
>>149237788NTA but i honestly can't tell with kids.
gumball's darwin has had all black kid VA and i honestly couldn't tell
>>149243421>in the stage background for the last two Mortal Kombat entriesHonestly I think they just forgot, considering how many references MK11 had.
Speaking of references, remember when Donkey Kong Country 2 blatantly advertised Killer Instinct in-game? It was kinda funny since the game was rated 18+ where I live. In the 2000s, you had to be careful even naming 18+ games, in non-18+ media, which included censoring game names in gaming press.
>>149243679They also worked in some text-based and visual nods to Perfect Dark in Banjo-Tooie. Rare had a pretty consistent record of working in references to their other games, regardless of the rating.
>>149244020Also Perfect Dark was a billion times better than Goldeneye and Zoomers never mention it, since Goldeneye was popular, and they only talk about whats popular.
>>149185213 (OP)Mom, can we have Talon while we back at home?
>>149243468They had egg laying squirrel badgers about the the time of the dakotaraptor.
>>149244267farsight is overpowered, pls nerf
>>149245700>N-Bomb only>watch the framerate dieIts also incredible how ambitious they were and had to scrap features like a level editor or the feature to use the Game Boy Camera and then use that Pokemon Stadium cartridge plugin to slap your face on the characters in multiplayer.
>>149185213 (OP)Oh what's this now?
Need the MC of this show in a cheerleader outfit like that Riptor skin
Saw JW Rebirth earlier this morning, not a classic by any means but not a terrible movie either.
JP>JPLW>JP3>JW>JWR>JWFK>JWD
It's mid but the dinosaurs are great. Except for the mutants, they suck,
>>149247762Iโm off to see it myself in a bit. Iโm not terribly hopeful but someone here saying itโs better than both FK and Dominion does make me feel somewhat better
How do you rank Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory among the franchise?
>>149247762I will one day see it when its streaming. I refuse to acknowledge the existence of JW2 and 3. Those movies are utterly retarded. And I'm not saying that to be edgy. That black kid screaming like a girl in whats supposed to be a serious scene and hes a main character? Yeah no. That movie is retarded.
Also people just stopped dying in those movies.
>>149247919 I never finished Camp Cretaceous (three seasons in I think) and haven't seen Chaos Theory yet. Pretty good from what I remember. Characters had more depth than the ones in Rebirth.
To bump the thread I will say that the pacing kills a lot of the goodwill I have for the generic writing, because you can't really sell something like this as genuine when you rush past everything. If this didn't have magic dinosaurs it would've been completely forgettable.
Luckily, it does have magic dinosaurs, and that's enough of a novelty factor to carry it. I might even donate them 5 dollars.
I mean Dinos are cool and all but ain't this like going into weirdo territory with all the magic and scifi shit
>>149249673That's the appeal. You're not the target audience if you don't get it.
>>149247936I have good news and bad news
>>149247762Earlier guy who replied to you
Right, so not as bad as I was fearing. There was one kino sequence (I'm sure you can guess) but the rest was just mediocre as fuck
What struck me on the way back home was how it didn't at all FEEL like the Jurassic franchise, and then I realized I would put money on this being a scrapped Monsterverse project dug up and stuffed into a dinosaur costume
Like, bros, the D.Rex is LITERALLY just a MUTO from Edwards' 2014 Godzilla movie, and they even redid the opening scene of Walter White's wife being stuck behind a door in the nuclear facility while he looked on helplessly. Just with a gender flip
Also, fucking SERIOUSLY? A fucking SNICKERS wrapper getting stuck in a vent was the downfall of the facility? I thought at least there would be a dynamic what with the suit up and such that the Distortus would be far less dangerous if the researchers remained scent neutral and the candy wrapper would end up drawing its attention
I'm starting to reconsider as type whether I actually dislike the film less than FK and Dominion. I actually DO enjoy aspects of the World era, and Rebirth just kinda did NOTHING for me
>>149233413He'd see right though my guy's shit.
>>149236476Thanks.
>>149243421>No modern Primal Rage game>No no new characters inspired by other prehistoric creatures (Pterosaurs, Spinosaurus, Wooly Mammoth, deinosuchus, ect)>No new characters inspired by kaiju (Mecha versions Blizzard and Sauron, dragons, giant insects, aliens, ect)>No guest characters that otherwise wouldn't fit in other games (Godzilla, Kong, Fang, Giganta, Gipsy Danger, ect) It's not fair
Actually I decided fuck Rebirth for breaking out the OG JP brass section for some random shitpile location in Suriname that means nothing
>>149250626>it didn't at all FEEL like the Jurassic franchiseYeah, I get that. No matter how many times it tried to evoke memories of the first movie it just kind of rang hollow.
With the Quetzalcoatlus and the little Aquilops the girl adopted I couldn't help but think.
>Man, I really wish this shit was in a Dinotopia movie.
>>149251294We can partially blame Midway for killing the franchise after they acquired it in the buyout of Atari. Apparently they thought it would draw sales away from Mortal Kombat at the time.
It's a bullshit excuse because the concept behind combining dino-gods and other giant primordial beasts with a post-apocalypse and Conan-esque sword and sorcery has far more creative avenues than the gimmicky martial arts soap opera that MK was becoming by the early 00's.
>>149251570Speaking of "the little friend"
Isn't Dolores going to just die, being brought away from the habitable band?
>>149250767Would he be my friend? And a whole lot more?
