Would it have killed WB to advertise this movie and Iron Giant?

Imagine if the costume director for Lil Ark Angel made a last-minute change (so to speak...) that had Darla's character wearing a diaper (y'know, like a greeting-card cherub or something)

>Would it have killed WB to advertise this movie
Yes. The movie was tied to Michael Jackson and it had a little girl in it. So it was dead on arrival.

Imagine if Darla took a bow after the play and accidentally let out all the gas she'd built up during the show with the stage's acoustics amplifying it throughout the theater

Hell, I'd want her too.

>you're on a date with the divine Darla Dimple
>she's much older than the child star she was so many years ago when you were just a lad
>she also puts more food away than you thought she would, too...
>while riding in her private limousine after your dinner out, she suddenly puts a hand on your leg
>"Listen... tonight's been wonderful, and you seem like such a sweet, genuine guy. You don't see a lot of those in showbiz..."
>your heart races, wondering what she could possibly say or do next
>"I want to show you a side of me I never show the cameras. And trust me, you'll remember it forever~"
>she closes her eyes, takes a deep breath...
>... and for the next half-minute, the vehicle is filled with the sound of a noisily-deflating balloon, her mouth growing into a relieved smile
>she sighs
>"Glad to finally get that out. Hope that wasn't too much of a shocker~"
>taken aback, you fail to find the words to say
>as if by providence, the limo comes to a stop
>"Oh! This is your place. Heh... sorry to end our time together on an... awkward note..."
>you tell her it was no problem, assuring her you had a wonderful night before you both exchange goodbyes
>as her luxury transportation drives off, you know one thing is certain: that was definitely not something you expected...
>... so you jot it down in your notepad, knowing it'll be perfect for the exposé you're about to publish!

You know, I know Cats Don't Dance is very self-aware about it, but I am actually pretty nostalgic for the days when movies and shows had "save the day and get the girl" as their major driving plotline, and motivation for the hero.

It's so simple, but I think that's precisely why I miss it these days.

Because it's sexist and degrading to women chud. Girls don't need no man to save them.

Not to mention it has worked since the dawn of human legend. It's timeless for a reason and you can change so much of it to keep stories engaging while still keeping that narrative backbone. People like heroics, people love romance. It is the perfect marraige of two of the most written about topics in human fiction. Make the big bad scary and you have a trifecta of action, romance and horror. When you look at older movies, especially action blockbusters, they pull from those 3 elements. You may have the Godfathers or the Donnie Darkos, but people still remember the action movies of the 70-80s or the block buster epics of the 60s

And then it came out the same weekend as Hercules and got absolutely crushed. I didn't even hear about this movie until like mid '98 when the Disney Channel would just...play it...constantly. But to be perfectly fair cableTV kinda sucked back then.

I don't think Dindal did a bad job with Chicken Little, even if it's a step backwards from Cats and Emperor

I agree with Chicken Little being a step backwards, but I wouldn't say that it was a bad movie, neither was Cats Don't Dance or Emperors' New Groove.

Like with most bad animated movies, a good chunk of the blame goes to executive meddling.

Your thinking of Cartoon Network, because that's where I first watched both CDD & Iron Giant.

Hit the nail on the head. Like yeah, not every movie that hits those three points will be a banger, but "knight fights dragon to save princess" always comes back.

>movie was going to be about a little chicken girl who had anxiety and a crazy imagination
>the mom is still alive, balancing out the dad
>movie was going to take place at a summer camp

Imagine if you were hired to escort Darla to a carnival, where she drank too much soda but was having too much fun to ask to use the bathroom, despite clearly needing it
