I would use the term protective, and also practical, another Jax would be bad for her opinion on how to conduct oneself in the circus. We are also missing a MASSIVE piece of the puzzle which is what exactly happened to Ribbit.

My interpretation is she views proximity to Jax as dangerous, and Pomni is throwing off the balance between her and Jax’s apparently opposite approaches to surviving in the circus. I don’t see manipulation or extreme possessiveness, but a girl looking out for everyone else at the expense of herself—kind of her whole thing. Does that mean her behavior is good? No it’s killing her, but it isn’t coming from a bad place, nor does it risk being anything other than mildly annoying to others.
