I am a VFX artist working on the opening of Doomsday. I guess it's supposed to be shown off relatively soon at SDCC or NYCC so they want it prepped and ready.

>He sees his daughter (we got repurposed footage from Endgame) who asks him if he feels like he saved the world to which Tony responds with "I could have done better."
>His daughter then mutates into Mephisto (yeah I know, "fake and gay because you waited until after Iron heart" no, we got the footage last week) who tells him he has the power to start again by sending his soul to another world where he'll have a new life to try again.
>Tony reluctantly agrees (and they want us to edit him getting all those weird markings that I saw in the last episode of Iron heart) and he's enveloped by the scars as he screams.
>On another world a baby is born and the parents name him "Victor".

Hopefully this is good enough. No I won't post screencaps as it's a small team and it won't be hard to single me out. Again, expect the full scene at NYCC or SDCC.

I remember the plot of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaked to Reddit and it seemed obviously fake because Strange does nothing in it and the plot is nothing but a string of murders committed by Wanda. Then the movie was exactly that even after reshoots.

Ever since then I’ve assumed that in the extended midlife crisis Feige has been having since 2020, “that sounds too stupid to be real” is not applicable.

It’s kind of inspiring really, to live in a world where films like Strange 2, Wonder Woman 84, Rise of Skywalker, Thor: Love and Thunder and Quantumania can get made. I missed Hollywood’s most incompetent era of the early-to-mid 1960s and now it’s all back: half-assed scripts that don’t make sense, cheesy obvious fake backgrounds, flat lighting.

Sounds bad so I don't really doubt it's true.

While I do believe Mephisto should be used again (because fuck Ironheart and that trash show) this sounds incredibly fake

Why does the audience need to see Tony's soul being literally transplanted into another universe? I think a majority of normalfags can handle the thought of "oh, Dr. Doom is basically an evil Tony Stark from another dimension," which is no doubt how the character will be marketed. That concept's been around for decades at this point.

NTA but I get the general sentiment that the MCU needs to spell out stuff for the audiences now as opposed to letting them think for themselves. It's more of a Hollywood issue as a whole as opposed to marvel.

My point was more that having dead Tony be in the soul realm, then having him make a deal with the devil, etc. is actually MORE convoluted as an origin for Doom than just going "he's an evil Stark from another timeline", which is how the in-movie cast are going to simplify it anyway, and isn't anything new when it comes to sci-fi schlock.

Unless this is Marvel's attempt at making the whole thing seem *more* than just sci-fi schlock, which would be a pointless endeavor, but also wouldn't shock me.

God I really, really fucking hope this isn't the case.

That sounds... awful.

So that means there's a decent chance this is actually what they are doing.

I guess that this could serve a few purposes, though.
- It establishes an audience and story connection to Doom via Tony without a multi-movie build-up. Basically a band-aid that attempts to solve the question of "how do we hype up this villain as the next big bad and make audiences care about him without a huge multi-movie arc, since we just kicked out the last villain with a huge multi-movie arc and replaced him with this guy?"
- It sets up a connection with Mephisto that's an alternative to his mother selling her soul. And potentially sets up Mephisto for a role as the actual villain while Doom is the main antagonist.
- It might be used to set up a relationship with Dr. Strange, who will be able to determine that Doom has Tony's soul. So Strange will trust him more than others do because of that.

It's the kind of thing they'd do to create an emergency Frankenstein abomination of a movie. But hopefully, ideally they have something better.
