A super close debatable matchup where either can win, an army match so there's even more to discuss, two GOAT antagonists, tons of easter eggs and banter, great music, Infinite getting BTFO while Metal Sonic was the MVP. Asura's Wrath was alright for what it was but more people controlled and played Kratos for a longer time and enjoyed/related to his story more. I really do think a lot of the autism over vidya characters is that people see themselves in the characters they play and those characters losing is a blow to themselves.

Yeah, this makes a lot of sense. When you think about it, it’s not like DB gave like an in-depth comparison of the feats during Krasura. As well as them using “lore” for Kratos, it’d make more sense for people to buy Kratos being stronger than he’s actually shown in game. You would need to put a side-by-side showcase of their in-game feats to actually get anywhere. Obviously less people know about Asura’s Wrath than God of War so more often than not they won’t know much outside what DB has shown unless they were compelled to actually go watch a playthrough on YouTube or something. Like they didn’t even show Asura getting stabbed from the moon to Gaea and walking it off like nothing happened, only alluded to it by saying “made Augus drew his sword for the second time” or something.

I know the show’s history is long but have they ever made a statement along the lines of “this guy has never [done some insane feat he’s nowhere near capable of doing], but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t!” or was that just a Kratos special? I knew the Helios MFTL+ meme is funnier and seems genuinely more insane but the cope with the former statement just seems like something DB might’ve came up with before. Bringing that up opens the path to way more scrutiny to what they shown before since aside from beating gods up, Kratos doesn’t really DO much in terms of feats. Like the one point about Asura annihilating planets and stars seems way more fucking impressive than any “I beat and scale to this guy is strong because this novel says he is” shit from Kratos, same thing with them mentioning before how Asura dodges MFTL+ beams multiple times, an ACTUAL speed feat than Kratos slowly shuffling towards a crippled guy.

Then, it seems like it truly was a Kratos special and Krasura was doomed before it even began if they needed to resort to that. Though, I can’t say that I fault them too much considering the characters.

Kratos's speed is weird in the episode because I'm almost positive they wanted to use the Helios feat as immeasurably fast. Remember they said it covered an infinite dimension in a few hours. There's a difference between nerfing a character because you need to preserve drama in a scene, and giving a character the capability to solve the main problem of his story, and then not letting him do it because...the story needs to happen.
If Kratos was even 1% as fast as DB claimed, there is no GoW. He just immediately solves the problem. There's multiple times in every game where Kratos talks about how slow he is and how he needs a new tool to travel somewhere. It's why he stole Hermes boots. It's why he needed the Bifrost. So the obvious explanation is that he simply...isn't that fast. He's a regular guy who's kinda strong.

And there's nothing wrong with being a slow guy who punches hard.

Crazy you say that because that's the entire subtext of a character like the Flash or Superman. Kratos is no different. Drama preservation in narratives exist. The entire point of powerscaling is to examine characters outside of those contexts. Knowing that takes more literacy than just going "oh if he can destroy planets at the drop of a hat the story wouldn't exist" like no shit, sherlock.

Oh, come on. Yes, drama preservation in narratives exists, but Kratos is not on the league of Superman or the Flash! He is a guy who is shown, repeatedly through all his narratives, as being unable to solve his problems without outside help. If he wants to travel fast, he must use a portal, or steal a person's magic shoes, or ride on a dog sled. If every narrative that Kratos has implies that he is not a fast person, then he is not a fast person and it's nonsense to imply that he is, for no reason other than 'well, I want him to be a fast guy.' And the reason he doesn't solve his problem instantly is not because drama is being preserved for the narrative, it's because he simply can't do it!
You need a narrative where he actually moves that fast first, to then argue that all the other times, he's being held back.
