It kind've is. They've had several now that were really cool that I hope get to come back in some form (although that can feel like a cheap asspull sometimes). My favorites are Kissy and Huggy and they're both still around so Mob has me on the hook for a while longer at least.
To stay on topic I had no idea Kovach voiced Doey because he sounds so different it's insanely impressive that he's also Jax.

Canadian man goes to get his brain scanned in Toronto, but as he takes the headset scanner off, he is in deep underwater base. Thousands of years into the future, earth is going through an extinction event and the only humans left are in deep under sea research facility. The facility's experimental AI has gone rogue to desperately preserve humanity and has managed to pull canadian man's brain scans that come with educational software and is digitally simulating him and everyone who has had their brains scanned.

The Digital Circus SOMA theory is that people had their brains scanned with the headset and Caine is just pulling their files to simulate them, likely to machine learn how to entertain people. He didn't, the company went bankrupt. When Pomni went to explore the now abandoned company offices, she found that one PC was left on and was still running the machine learning process, and accidentally added her own digital copy into it.

I think it's mainly to to help lower attention span / reading orientated viewers understand the story of the show. I think it's literally just going to be a webcomic version of the exact events of the series, which will likely help some people who complain abput not understanding what's going on because they missed things in an understandably high intensity, fast paced short mustery plot animated series that doesn't spoonfeed a lot of direct viewers to viewers who don't rewatch and hunt details. The webcomic format is a lot more forgiving in that it can make things a bit more obvious without shoving information down their throat, and it's less effort for lazier viewers to go back to previous foreshadowing / context earlier in the series that informs your understanding of later events. So it's not like Liam has to be directly involved if it's just the show but retold in graphic novel form. Would be nice if the art was directed by Liam though.

Firstly, the "humans" in the digital circus are actually just copies of real players, and their consciousness was duplicated via a glitch.

Perhaps some evil corporation or entity set this up as some kind of fucked up game? Maybe they are monetizing off of this in some way?
