Why do people complain about this show not being "Christian-adjacent" when it was never meant to be that way in the first place? Did anyone really think it was meant to be taken seriously when:

For me it's not so much that it's inaccurate. I don't claim to be an expert on Christian mythology and I think most people don't assign themselves that honor either. It's that taking that mythology and presenting it in the most boring way possible to make your characters relatable is not interesting. If you don't care about being true to the setting, why have it in hell at all?

I admit that I really like the idea of angels not knowing why they were saved because it plays into the concept of blind faith being just as evil as total anarchy. That blind unquestioning trust in Law creates complicity with evil or wrath disguised as blind servitude. It's Law vs. Chaos. Veering too far to either side causes corruption. But that doesn't work because Hell isn't really the opposite of Heaven. If anything Hell is more structured. Having safe zones in corporations or communities. Even Hell has safe zones and war zones. So it's not much different to living on earth. That's not eternal torment. Hell is a fucking vacation for a lot of people.

Heaven not caring about mortals has the POTENTIAL to be interesting if the idea was that those souls are coming up to heaven anyway so God doesn't give a shit. But no. Everyone they kill goes to hell for some reason even if they weren't being sinful. There's no grey areas. Heaven is the bad guys because they are misogynistic and homophobic and the Sinners could have killed and raped 5000 babies before coming to Charlie and they have the potential to be redeemed ANYWAY because they sacrifice themselves for people that DO NOT deserve it.

The mini short takes place during Season 1 before Blitzo's development.

No no no. The problem is that Viv approved of this pitch. She approved of the script. She went through the labor of animating and voicing and finalizing it. So this horrible episode happened. And the fact it happened eternally ruins Blitzo's character. Blitzo is a hypocrite and the only thing Blitzo has any empathy for is himself. If you don't reflect Blitzo's life directly he will unleash evil on you even if you don't deserve it.

The damage in done audiences now really don't like Blitzo. And the more Viv insists on drama and trying to make these characters likable the more audiences resent them. Blitzo is merely the final piece of the puzzle.

Loona claims to want to be accepted for who she is in that recent mini episode but she already got that, the other Hellhounds accept her and she's content with her homosexual adopted father. I've always wanted to see something where hell is just Hades on super steroids. That's not the same as isekai LN #2002 slapping the names Lucifer and Michael at random for rule of cool.

Not that you can claim rule of cool to defend the show, either, when so much of HH's lore is indeed facelifted from the Old/New Testament - just with none of the understanding. Lucifer being reinterpreted is nothing new, and indeed has possibility, but to take as much as Vivzie has does kinda pencil her into making something at least a little more faithful.

Also the setting just isn't that great on its own, despite the potential. Ultimately Hell is just LA while Heaven is LA-but-gentrified. It's fine to write what you know, and I liked the Helluva Boss episode in LA, but this is also so plain and downscaled compared to the actually biblical level opportunities you could take as a writer. And how is Hell a moral equivalent to Heaven when it's full of degenerates, murderers, cannibals, pedophiles and every miscreant imaginable? The setting feels so confused
