Hello fans, we are here yet again for another installment of “Worst Toonami Performances of All Time!” Last week, we returned to a mostly normal schedule, with Daima doubling up for the night to hold a slot for Dan Da Dan tonight. Unfortunately, ratings reports have still not returned and have not been posted since mid June, so I fear that after many years, we may have finally reached the end for Toonami ratings. But, I also know we have thought that before in the past, and a new source rose up, so I will be keeping an eye out for any new information.

Dan Da Dan starts tonight, one of the newest shows we have gotten in years. And assuming Bleach and Blue Exorcist move right into their next seasons, this should be the schedule that carries us into the fall. Which is nice, because it actually has a nice stretch of back to back good content. Been even longer since we could say that.

I stopped reading Dandadan 190 chapters in. Got to the point where I was caught up at the time I read it and then dropped it because it wasn't really hooking me.
Haven't watched the anime. Don't really want to, the early manga is frontloaded with sex jokes and I'm not a fan of those. Ironically I still watched all of Panty & Stocking over this past week just so I could be caught up on a 4chan phenomenon.

Worst (that we have ratings for) was that Fena marathon a few years ago. First time the lead slot dipped below 100k viewers. There have probably been worse nights than that but we don't get ratings often these days.
Best I think was around 2015/16 when we could get close to 2 million for the lead. I think it was Akame ga Kill as the lead.

It's a weird mashup of romantic comedy and teen action show. It merges tropes from both genres together into a pretty wild scramble and there's weird twists on everything. It's a show that's very hard to predict even if you've a very jaded anime / manga veteran whose seen all the cliches before. Dandadan doesn't so much as come up with new ideas as combines ideas in really unusual and unexpected ways. It took the usual romantic comedy dynamic and made it into an action series. Or else it took the premise for an action manga and put a romcom plot at the heart of it.

The anime in particular is visually stunning. Fantastic style and animation, excellent music. The OP in particular was a huge hit since it's by a very popular Japanese band that's been getting a lot of exposure with hit anime OPs in recent years (Yofukashi no Uta's OP1 and ED1, and Mashle season 2 OP for example, are by the same band, and were insanely popular).
