>>149587135 Is having a (deep) deep end not a thing anymore? The far end of the pool at my community centre goes down to like 20 feet, and that place was built in 1993.
>>149587804 >>149587811 I know this is most likely it's the 70's and they didn't talk about that kind of stuff. But I really think if the mom is worried she should have a talk her preteen daughter especially since all her friends minus deb are boys.
>>149589327 Why didn't they go and see Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Rescuers or Superman several times as they first came out and were Blockbuster hits around the time these Graphic Novels are set?
>>149589514 The story actually seems very specific wrt dates, this is August 1978 so I'm not sure any of those movies would have been showing then. They could however have seen Debbie Does Dallas.
And that's it, ride ends here. There are two other books (one even came out this month so I don't think the series is over yet) but this is as far as I can go. No rips, scans, Internet Archive rentals, or even potato quality pdfs. Thanks for the bumps everyone
>>149589776 Thanks a lot OP, I really enjoyed these. More than I expected to given the intended audience. While the art is simple both it and the writing are good at conveying a real sense of Sunny's feelings. Hopefully the others get ripped at some point.
>>149589743 >I've been wondering if you can deep fry a candy bar Yes you can, Sunny. Indeed you can.
>>149588225 >a job is a big responsibility! >you can't be late by 45 minutes because you were working hard! This mother just looking for reasons to worry and nag.
>>149593973 I hope 5 and 6 get ripped soon. I enjoyed these way more than I thought I would. I ended up reading all 4 in one sitting and I think I probably would have read 5 and 6 too if they were up. They're really quick reads.
Thank you for the story time OP, these books were very comfy. I forget how nice it is to turn your brain off and just enjoy a simple story.

You know, if it wasn't for being an awful time for animation and vidya being in its cave painting era I'd say the 70's seemed to be a pretty cool time to grow up on Please correct me if I'm wrong
>>149589162 This was nice light reading, thank you very much. Glad things are going good for Sunny. Also I can't be the only one to notice that despite her having shades on every comic cover not once does she wear them in the stories themselves. I am starting to think she doesn't even owns a pair of those specific shades.

>>149590389 I think I'll wait til later, this is too sweet to really corrupt yet at least. Let the threads be mostly clean for now. Could be a general thread for her or scholastic characters later.
>>149589117 >The most shocking thing about the 1970s in retrospect is the freedom kids were afforded. We were basically running wild all day. Even my ten-year-old daughter says that the 1970s sounded like the โfunnestโ time ever. And, in a way, it was. Kids had a ton of independence back then. We walked ourselves to school. We played in dangerous places. We used fireworks โ I still have all my fingers.
>>149599341 I want to play with Sunny's little Dungeons and Dragons miniatures and then take her for an ice cream and see a beautiful smile on her face.
>>149597277 >general thread for her or scholastic characters later. She's over a decade apart (both in and out of universe) but I kind of like the idea she'd unironically be into G.A.S.P. (yeah yeah I know Amelia Rules isn't technically Scholastic but that didn't stop us before) complete with making up a Swamp Thing inspired get-up and being the one girl who likes talking to Reggie about comics which makes Amelia and especially Rhonda (depending on if it's before or after her character development) jealous She might quit when things get too chaotic but would still probably talk to the guy

So when do you think the series will end? Two more books?
>>149621288 >>149621955 >>149622815 Nothing stays wholesome forever. Here's my suggestion to get the ball rolling. >>149587508 Sunny bending over to reach the ice cream in the freezer. She doesn't realize the cold of the freezer has made her nipples hard, while a flustered Tony tries to look away.
>>149607387 >>149610214 >Sunny has her 13th Birthday in 1978 >1978 minus 13 equals the year she was born I know you can do this anons, I believe in you.
>>149634399 What format do they come in from Google? I was looking at possibly doing this myself, I've done it before but not for a while. I'd want to get them from somewhere they'll come in an easier format to rip rather than weird proprietary shit like Amazon uses though.
>>149600887 i remember from a few threads ago where someone made an au where all these kind of characters end up at a boarding school which is trapped in a timeloop until the characters finally adress their character flaws and can happily grow up. Maybe shes like a substitute teacher or smth, idk

>>149637044 That's the thing that kinda gets me, I dunno which I prefer. On one hand, she is IRL and in-universe several decades older than the rest of the characters, so her being a teacher would be a nice cap off to her character, but on the other, Sunny is a very sweet girl and I'd like to see how she'd bounce off the other, "rougher-edged" Scholastic protagonists. Just the fact that she's from the 70's has a lot of potential.
>>149638150 >Is probably sent to therapy sessions with Amelia (assuming this is right after Dale hurting Sunny and Amelia's parents' divorce) >Has no fucking clue why Raina loves cartoons so much because she grew up in the 70's (unless I'm proven wrong and there was something animated she did enjoy in one of the later books) I don't think she'd be "canonized" since she's relatively new (series debuted in 2015) but she'd be a fun auxiliary
>>149640100 The next volume is fully on Internet Archive You don't even need an account https://archive.org/details/dear-dumb-diary-never-do-anything-ever/mode/2up I could try and storytime it at least by the weekend, maybe earlier
>>149640186 With a simple "Thank You" and an added tip Cute drawing by the way
>>149637044 >>149638150 I like the idea that, despite being the nicest out of the group, Sunny is actually the toughest and bravest kid simply because, being from the 70's, she got out more, had a proper summer job at like age 11/12 and is overall more worldly compared to the rest of the group who are more comparatively coddled.
>>149643204 I mean, after reading the whole thing it didn't really work out that way since Brian got put on a bus. I feel like it still might become a thing in a later volume though. Tony is a good guy, he cares about Sunny and they're very cute together but I can't help but feel a bit sorry for Brian if he liked her too. Particularly as a fellow loser nerd.

>>149642915 If you're talking toughest socially sure Nate and Rafe get into mischief and Amelia has thrown punches
>>149638548 I see no particular reason why Sunny Lewin isn't in the group. She fits perfectly fine. I think it might be due to popularity. However, that's debatable because Amelia was big but became niche over the years. However, Amelia still got represented. Granted, Amelia Rules has over 20 years of advantage since its release date of June 6, 2001.
>>149650565 Amelia's there because /co/ Anons thought she'd be a good fit and whoever was running the list decided to add her upon review. Amelia Rules was a critical darling that got VERY unlucky when it coming out (for example its' first actual publisher closed because its owner got hit by a bus). If Sunny's a good fit, sure canonize her I don't use the alleged Discord.
>>149650721 theres a discord for that shit???????? Can you please tell me how i can find it or link it or some shit? I wanna talk about that au with other anons
>>149650758 >theres a discord for that shit???????? It's pure speculation because someone or some group must be keeping tabs on it given how frequent the shipping wiki page is updated and some OC gets posted here but not on Reddit
>>149650814 The OP pic the screencap is referring to was an animated webm with those characters listed https://shipping.fandom.com/wiki/Scholastic_Squad
>>149650837 It was kind of inevitable but feel free to ignore The Discord stuff is speculation because where the fuck else would they be coming from?
