see a lot of american produce is just garbage, because it was bred to look pretty, and to ship long distances intact. tomatoes in particular are frequently picked green, then force-ripened with ethylene (the thing that helps them ripen in nature, but yknow, they're gassed with it) so they don't develop flavor. and that's before you like, refrigerate them or something, killing what's left
a nice heirloom tomato is going to be bursting with flavor, though usually has a weird and uneven body that makes it better for cooking with. but camparis are basically perfect. firm, flavorful, a nice size so that a single one sliced up covers your sandwich with no leftovers...
Also I see now why you said "I never did." I was saying "enjoy it again" and that would require you to have enjoyed it once before. yes yes, that was my mistake.
