>>149778351 >great costume >great powers >likeable personality >Peter Parker tier supporting cast >10/10 art from Adrian Alphona and equally great writing from G. Willow Wilson on her debut run
She was a breakout success, not an industry plant. Cope and seethe conservatard
>>149777809
Spider-Gwen, but the costume did 90% of the work. Also Jon Kent, but no one is going to remember him 10 years from now unless they put him in a movie.
>>149778393 >not an industry plant
she's a self-insert for a dei hire, sana amanat has admitted to all of it >According to Amanat, an executive at Marvel approached her for the job because she was different from their average employee. She said that the executive told her she had "something different to offer than the regular fanboy who has read comics since he was a kid. She has a different voice, and they need her voice in order to change Marvel." >The conception of Khan came about during a conversation between Amanat and Marvel editor Stephen Wacker. Amanat said, "I was telling him some crazy anecdote about my childhood, growing up as a Muslim American. He found it hilarious."

I really don't think you know what an industry plant is, anon. You're just seething at the existence of a female muslim superhero and trying to invent reasons why that's a bad thing.
>muh "dei hire"
I refuse to believe anyone under the age of 70 uses this phrase unironically
>>149778438 >person who co-created the character (but did not write the actual comic) partially based her on her own experiences as a Muslim-American teenager >To a conservative, this is basically a war crime
I've never read anything with her in it, so this is from an outsider's perspective. Marvel really fumbled her with the avengers gayme, because on paper, I think she should be more popular than she is. With vtubers and stuff, waifu/husbando autism is at an all time high, will probably continue to rise, and I think Kamala has a lot of qualities that make her appealing. >Cute >Neat costume >Could become giant, so giantess fetishists like me want to goon to her >Fun powerset >Autistic

She has 100% been botched, you're correct. The game was awful, and so was the Disney+ show. She might get some more exposure if they add her to marvel rivals, but that game is pure coomer bait so I don't know if I want to see her disgraced by being in it.
The G. Willow Wilson run is absolutely worth reading.

Her initial run was great, and then Marvel took everything that made it great and stripped it away so she could be every popular characters "little buddy". Contrary to popular belief, Carol Danvers doesn't show up THAT much in her first run of comics. They saw she was more popular than the rest of the shit they were cranking out like Ironheart and Gay Hulk, didn't know what to do, and then proceeded to turn her into pretty much the exact opposite of what she was that made people like her in the first place.
>>149775373 >The time when they tried to give Kamala her own "Black Suit" arc >Said suit is still on the loose and "Stormranger" likely will never be resolved
God, what I wouldn't give for a total de-retcon of all this mutant shit.

I would really like to know what about this thread triggered the hive so badly. It barely had any replies before they showed up.

my god you're right >>149778393
good shout, I forgot Spider-Gwen wasn't a thing until 2014. also I did think of Jon Kent, but for some reason I feel like I've seen an AU comic where Superman's son is called Jon before the 2010s
