I hope you are not seriously claiming the japanese designer changed Cleo's looks without approval of the french creators (who were the ones sending money). It was mutual agreement to go with the redesign.

Also, TV cartoons will never be a thing again in a lof of western countries, it's all streaming and indies now.

>The 1982 animators' strike was a labor strike conducted by American animators in the Greater Los Angeles area. The strike, organized by the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Local 839, was caused by disagreements between the labor union and studios over runaway productions, a term referring to outsourcing production work to outside of the metropolitan area. The strike ran from August to October and ended in failure for the union, who failed to win concessions from the studios.

This is the reason why so many cartoons in the 1980s were outsourced to Japan and why American animation is in the current state it's in.

King of The Hill Season 14 was ok, yes the rigged animation shouldn't be there but because Snipple is doing the animation it put's City's animation to shame.

It shows how much Snipple improved since Wabbit, they went from as stiff and stilted as Rough Draft to giving KyoAni a run from it's money (doesn't help that most of their talent either died from that fire, migrated to live action or went to either Science Saru or Bones for better pay).

It's just that Snipple had to fuck up horrendously on Green Eggs and Ham: The Animated Series (the show that made Akom's off model shit on Transformers G1 and 1980s G.I. Joe look good) and Animaniacs'2020 to get them to straighten them out while Tonic DNA only stood stagnant.

Another anon taught me to be critical when watching any animation, from anywhere. Basically an average 2D japanese cartoon struggles to have character animation outside of action scenes. Just talking, emoting with your arms, showing your personality through the way you act and do small things THAT'S NOT FIGHT SCENES. Here's an example of something recent (2023) from the frogs, with exceptional good character animation despite the average TV budget.

And yet, despite the sheer volume of trash there are still more well written shows made in Glorious Nippon per year, then in N America and Europe.

It's all back between 1928 to 1967 anyway.

>The people that animated Thundercats, Silverhawks and Tigersharks are likely working on the Anne of Green Gables remake if they are still around
Those people retired by Return of Jafar, the only people left from Disney Animation Japan who made the jump to The Answer Studio after The Cat Who Became King (which started at Disney Animation Japan before moving to The Answer Studio) were Motoyoshi Tokunaga himself, Hiroshi Kawamata and Kazuyoshi Takeuchi, everyone else abandoned the industry due to having ZERO interest in anime as well as the anime industry's ultra low pay.

>The real irony is if you ask all the top old animators and directors from Japan what their favorite animated shows from the west were its always some slideshow late 50s and early 60s Hanna Barbera bliss you loved watching as a kid.
That and the shows they worked on.

>Japan stopped animating overseas ever since they began focusing on their own domestic animation market

They became unaffordable after their great economic crash. They also raised their living standards enough to raise the prices as well. Loans to start projects became scarce and they were paying employees a little more.

This was already happening before "japan changed their focus to domestic animation." You could see signs of it between 82 and 87 when more and more episodes of shows were going to Korea despite the poorer quality animation of Korea at the time.

A lot of this was offset in the 80s by toy sales. However, after the Simpsons, bearish and Buthead and the nicktoons block popularized creator driven cartoons And a few flopped toy driven cartoons, the US market drifted away from financing cartoons with toys. Pokรฉmon would be the final nail in the coffin when they show was given to the US for close to free, hoping it would lock in game and vhs sales

>Not gonna lie, I think if you showed Transformers, or GI Joe, or My Little Pony to someone today they would think it's the most jank and error filled shit ever.

Are we talking adults or kids.

Either way, the grain would probably bother them if anything did. People dont pay attention to shit

Thanks for reminding Japan had a boner for Wacky Races since forever. There is a Wacky Races episode of Space Dandy.

Why do people like things? A dumb question, really. There is an english-speaping japanese band MONORAL who got most of their recognition in Latin America. There is an english band Sad Lovers And GIants who got more fans in Greece than in home country. Why? Because things happen.
