Tenzin was the best character in the show but it took me a second watch to like him. He felt more like a lamer Uncle Phil or a generic Earth Kingdom general than someone raised by Aang and Katara. Especially compared to his siblings. Then when I watched the series a second time I realized he's kind of valid for the way he acts. He basically had to maintain air-bender culture all by himself on top of being some kind of politician(?) and then having to babysit the avatar. I sympathized with him. I also ended up liking his relationship with Korra more than Bolin, Mako, and the car girl.
It felt like they spent more time trying to make team avatar 2.0 that they forgot to make the characters have chemistry that didn't just involve boring or cringy romance drama or Korra losing her temper with them and then apologizing later on. They don't keep her grounded or play off of her character in a funny or meaningful way, nothing worth analyzing or looking over at all. Bolin and Mako ended up being better with other characters (Lin, Wu and eccentric science guy) than they did with Korra and Asami
Back to Korra and Tenzin, Lin was great too, and worked with them very well. Team Avatar should have just been those 3, Prince Wu, and maybe Zuko's grandson.
