Change how each job works, so that people will finally have to learn how to use them and not simply spam colorful buttons in a boring sequence. Add something fun to it, like that debuff Warrior would get whenever you went berserk and that a healer had to remove with Esuna.
Second, improve the MSQ. Let's be honest, it was one of the biggest appeals of the game, because most players are just casuals who only care about dialogues, pretty places, new lore, and new cool glam. Dawntrail basically annihilated any goodwill the team had collected with the release of ShB and EW.
Try to decrease the time between patches. They increased it by using Covid as an excuse and hoped no one would notice it was still longer than usual when the plague ended. To do this, though, they would need more resources and money, which apparently Square has no intention of giving them despite demanding the same player count of ShB's times.
And finally, try to bring back Koji-Fox and Ishikawa back on the project, at least for a little while. They were objectively the glue that kept the game together, thanks to Koji's autism with lore and flowery language that never felt too modern and Ishikawa's talent with characters and melancholy stories. I can't deal with Dawntrail's sickening optimism anymore. Even the tribal quests of the Mamool Ja are devoid of any conflict, while by all logic they should be wary of a literal who scientist from Sharlayan.
