But really, knowing the basics of shading and painting gives you skills you can easily apply in any form of art.
And really if you want mspfa stick figures to look good you can really use higher skills whittled down to abstraction. Just look at hussie’s older art.

Something like Homestuck could only work when individually hosted sites was the norm. Now most readers expect to read a comic on an aggregator site like Webtoon. The convenience entails trade-offs and while you can upload animated gifs to webtoon I think it just ends up being more work. The animation present in Homestuck works best in the MSPA format and would look overstimulating in regular comic format and would be really tricky to implement in vertical scroll format.

Mu only hope for this new wave of Homestuck fandom is that some of the good fanfic authors come back and finish their hiatus'd fics. I remember when I first read homestuck I thought it was interesting that Hussie only used the 12 trolls + ancestors and there not being a single non-player related background character (same goes for the humans though there are exceptions like dad, sassacre and like guy fieri and shit). And while I really like that choice from a storytelling and just general creative perspective (reusing the guardians/ancestors as players is genius), I did wonder "man, what if there actually was more to alternia and we explored those cities and towns". And then I read Vast Error and was like "Oooooh no no no nope nope nope thank you hussie why would I ever doubt you" like jesus yeah no it sucks
