The first season was not really about that. Both Simon and Fionna disliked their current places but the story was about how they both were incapable to move past things they felt they missed out on. Simon felt like Betty was the only thing important about his life and that nothing mattered if it didn't revolve around her anymore, and Fionna felt like she missed out on existence by not being a magical hero. They both resolve their issues around that. Those issues aren't tied to their world, Fionna getting another magical adventure would not undermine what she learnt from the first one.

My bigger worry is Simon. Everything we've heard so far about this upcoming season points to the thing being just about Fionna and HW, and that feels weird because Season 1 to me established that Simon is a key character to Fionna and Cake and Im not really sure about a season without him being part of the main cast. I think it would be fine if Simon didn't have a proper arc but him being out of it is weird. Especially cause HW and Simon interactions would be very funny.
