Given that Gooseworx have just said that Jax is meant to be irredeemable, it does feel a bit goofy as to trying to show why, while also needing for him to basically lie about everything. It doesn't make him complex so much as convoluted, you can't trust when he is trying to be the bad guy. His line of thinking, that everything is a game so why bothered getting attached, isn't even treated as 100% incorrect. So him being in the antagonist role does just feel weird and goofy. Having EVERY moment with him be treated with doublespeak, that you are meant to read in how much it makes him an ass but also how traumatized he is like everyone else, makes him feel like a cartoon character more than anyone else.
