I could barely take 5 minutes before tapping out
It's the most loud and obnoxious thing I've tried to watch this year, not to mention the most embarrassingly hard-sell main characters.
Yes I'm aware the target audience is 12 year old girls

It makes Kpop fans ABSOLUTELY SEETHE.

Which means it's good.

I am going to take a guess that, because the songs are chopping global charts in general, on the specific KPop charts they are absolutely crushing it. Kpop has a lot of a obsessive superfans for specific artists, and they can't be happy that two fake cartoon pop groups are beating them right now.

NTA but it's just retarded kpop fanwars. The music and movie itself is doing well, so kpop fans are jealous that a group that doesn't really exist is outperforming and breaking records, over their own favorite groups with real people.

Anon, it's not easy to present your characters as cute but also badass but also relatable but also super popular but also independent but also caring but also sassy but also goofy but also conforming to conventional beauty standards but also quirky but also elegant but also silly but also dignified but also a kpop band.

Unless you have good writers who therefore not even try to do that of course.

It's such an incredibly inoffensive movie, it goes out of its way to be as safe and standard as possible with no subversion or big risks. It's a standard hero's journey with standard bubblegum pop music and stock archetype characters. Probably the biggest "risk" they took was on the animation itself.

I can't imagine being such a massive pussy that this would offend you when watching a kid. I would watch my Nephew badly singing along to soda pop a hundred more times before watching any more fucking Blippi or Loud House

"Golden" by the animated K-POP group Huntr/x just hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It's the first time a fictional group hit #1 since 1969, when "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies hit.

OP is clearly in the bitter, seething minority.

Bit of an anecdote but I once had a kpop fan tell me about this song that was like a kpop/metal hybrid. I thought that sounded interesting so I checked it out. There was nothing metal about it at all and when I asked then what they were talking about, they referred to a couple of parts in the song where they used an Eastern chord progression. The same thing Britney Spears and Fiona Apple did in the 90s. They thought that was metal.

The reality is that normies don’t give a fuck about this shitty film, the reason the film blew up on Netflix was because kids, I should know cause I worked as a Summer Camp Counselor over the Summer and every kid was talking about the film, many wanted to watch it on the tv in the playroom. This film has so many views on Netflix is cause kids love this kind of slop about the most corporate music genre ever so parents turn it on in the background for them to keep it quiet.

The only adults who give a fuck about this slop film are autists and YouTube ecelebs. You seriously think normies want to watch a film with a title like "K-Pop Demon Hunters"? Kek, get real, the films so called "popularity among normies" is complete bullshit

I enjoyed it. Really was able to get into the film emotionally, sucked me into the plot for some reason. Don't care much for Kpop but I added 3 songs from it to my 1k+ playlist. The main characters and their reactions are cute, I liked the moderately ugly background characters.
Biggest complaints are that the main villain, Gwi-ma, had WAY too generic of a voice. They should have hired an old, creaky, creepy, booming, macho old asian guy. Absolute no power behind his voice.
The generic, ugly little demons and the cute water demons should have been more sympathetic too. I thought the film was hinting at the fact all of the demon minions were once humans who were conned into eternal slavery, but they didn't expand on that. When Rumi pinned that demon and asked him if he was a victim, he should have looked down sad, look back at her, open his mouth, then get dusted by Zoey's thrown dagger. I dunno why Jinu is the only demon with empathy.
Mira is the hottest btw.

This is what I still don't get, did Sony really sold the rights of the franchise to Netflix? Because if so, there is no point in watching a sequel if Netflix is giving the franchise to a different studio with a totally different artstyle from the original.

What bothered me most was that it had all these different characters taking up screen time when the only ones who got any actual development or personality were Rumi and Jinu. It just felt empty. The rest of the Saja Boys were grunts who never got to say anything and the other two Huntrix girls were just sassy quirky relateable queens with one note sad backstories shoved into a couple sentences. Celine was barely relevant even though it seems she’s supposed to be super important to Rumi’s backstory. The movie really could’ve used more screentime or better planning/structure. Also Soda Pop is fucking annoying and I’m sick of hearing it.

I like Your Idol though.

Celine was a fucking nothing burger of a character who is clearly supposed to be super important but we never get the proper context on the extend of it. But at the same time her obvious neglect and absence in Rumi's life made it obvious how much she cares about her and the girls. She deserved to get called out. We can only hope that the sequels focuses on expanding the other members of the band
Also the fact that, except for Jinu, literally none of the Saja Boys had any actual spoken lines making them quite literally fodder was... a choice
Also, I agree Your Idol > Soda Pop
