Why do people like Clarence? The show is awful! It has an ugly art style and Clarence has an annoying voice. Clarence is also a fucking asshole! He constantly gets away with shit and Jeff gets tortured. In one episode, Clarence becomes a delinquent all because he missed 5 minutes of recess and at the end, he gets rewarded with his very own recess. Clarence is worse than Caillou. That's how bad he is. He's an unlikable little shithead!

I only saw 1 or 2 episodes & got bored of it. The slice of life shows involving shotas has been a billion times already. At least add some slapstick or fan service if you're gonna do a slice of life series. That's why Ed Edd n Eddy is still the GOAT even to this day.

Because it's really good at showing kids behaviour. It has really strong and well written characters. Each of main trio grows so much.

My favorite aspect of it though is that lessons are not in your face, but each episode makes you think.

Now this is just sad... Seemed like Skyler Page was even doing well for himself after so publicly losing his own show early in his career. I remember he'd gotten a more low-key job on a Titmouse production and was sharing cool drawings over on his humble Instagram for a couple years around that same time. Dana Terrace even liked some of his posts there.

That indie pilot he animated also showed that he hadn't lost his skills from the Crater Face days, so I was hoping Page could redeem himself since his fallout was more due to mental issues than the stuff John K or John Lasseter exhibited. This is a fascinating crashout to watch as an outsider, but I think I'm over him now if he's just gonna grow bitter and take all the wrong lessons from his experience at Cartoon Network. This is worse than what Savino went on to do.

It's kind of like Chowder, the main character flip-flops between insufferable and actually funny but the real gold is in the supporting cast.

It was also the last cartoon (at least on CN) that did an accurate take on "kids being kids" like Ed Edd n Eddy. relatable but also very much a cartoon if that makes sense. The others, like CoTC, feel like it was told from the point of view of a homeschooled or indoor Californian.

We had this exact same thread a couple of days ago, if not yesterday.

Despite being called "CalArts" by retard who haven't watched it, it had a big variety of head shapes, also, surprisingly it had a bunch of cute girls

Clarence isn't an asshole. You're right that he sometimes makes things worse for those around him, but that's because he's an enthusiastic kid who doesn't think too hard before he does things.
I found him a charming protagonist because his main characteristic is just being friendly. The main appeal of the show really was seeing the wide ensemble of other kids he would interact with.
This is also why I never minded the art style - there's a lot more variety than a lot of shows like this, because while Clarence is the classic "beanmouth" shape the other kids have a lot of varieties in the shapes used in their designs.
