Asura would need to stop being angry and Mantra as a concept needs to be erased to put him down (almost) permanently. I can tell you right now that draining has only occurred three times, twice only in the novelization:

- Kratos draining his godly powers into it, which occurred in both the game and the novel. He was willingly doing it to the greatest degree possible, and even then, it was far from instantaneous. There's nothing suggesting it would have this effect on anything else, as it never has.
- Zeus, who had his power absorbed and then went from big to small. This is seen as significant power drain, when it was more literally Kratos topping up his life from Zeus'. Zeus is explicitly noted as having the same power, but in a smaller container, and effortlessly becomes big again later in the fight.
- When Kratos stabs Athena. It begins draining her of her godly power, and then she dies... which is probably more because she has a massive sword in her gut than anything else. Her death still results in a massive shockwave of godly energy, same with every other god.

The analysis of the Blade of Olympus, I think, was kept intentionally superficial to justify a win condition for Kratos.
