>Why is every teen a super genius?
because super genius is an established power set, superman was one back in he silver age
spider-man made the teen hero popular (ironically, he stopped being one after only 3 years into his run and was primarily a college hero for most of his most iconic stories)
so teen genius is just a natural end point

>Is it empowering or something?
teens, and kids in general, generally feel like nothing they do matters and that adults will always look down on them as being dumber or not worth listening to
the teen genius is a form of empowerment by having someone that the adults ignore at their own peril

literally the same logic behind kid heroes, people generally like seeing someone like them mattering or being powerful

The thing about "super genius" characters is that most of them aren't really smart in the sense that they have excellent problem-solving skills. To pull from Worm, most capeshit "super genius" characters are either Tinkers, Thinkers or both. Tinkers can build esoteric and fantastic technology that breaks the laws of physics. Thinkers are exceptional at gathering and receiving information.
Tinkers and Thinkers do not have to be inherently smart people, and being one (or both) does not make you smart.

>>150039916
It's really funny that Marvel wants to go with the "women can be super geniuses too" when it flies in the face of their "the world outside your window" thing. Take all the world's smartest men and women, and the men will have a higher IQ than the women. It's not really men's fault that women aren't as smart as they are, it's women's fault in this case for choosing average or below average IQ men to have children with.

The average "super genius" is working as an accomplished engineer, scientist, doctor or closely involved with state intelligence. Comics kinda do get this right, but they don't know how to really implement it in an interesting way since real life "super genius" careers aren't really thrilling adventures most of the time.

Having super-engineers do super-science or super-detectives solve mysteries is much easier since it's closer to magic than anything else.

I dont know, Jimmy neutron and Dexter were fine, but those cartoons had comedic effect.
Valeria and specially moongirl being genius level compared to reed was always shitty concept in the first place.
Every time they try to make new characters writers always have this stupid idea to mock or try to make look inferior established characters in favor of the new ones. Look at moon girl and Miles morales.
No senior reader will take this characters seriously in that regard. Heck even normies, know the moongirl is a extremely retarded take, and in normie's minds, reed richards is still the smartest marvel character.

This is not unique to comics.
But more specific to comics, its that they don't get it's supposed to be a black box. A character brilliant enough in this specific field for a specific invention, but otherwise no different than anyone else. It's a plot convenience as much as any power-granting accident, not a pass to always know better than everyone else.

I am reading HPMOR and despite the criticism, HPMOR Harry is one of the best examples of a highly intelligent child I have ever read, because he is still written as a child unlike most child geniuses. The problem with these “child geniuses” is that they are written as typical know it all adults, whereas in the real world they probably only have one skill that they are really good at, and since they are still developing, they are still highly influenced by adults, who are probably dumber than them. Only later will their egos become truly bad, but earlier on, it's not like these writers portray.

That's the whole reason, miles morales. America Rivera, riri Williams, moongirl, the kid nova, the girl hawkeye, Wiccan and hulking while the whole variants and legacy heroes exist sucks in the first place in marvel.
No one is really invested in them because no one cares about them, compared to the classic heroes.
They then to belive they are the superior version of an already existing concept, while they are absolute trash as characters.
The only exception I can think of was Kampala khan as miss marvel because she actually had adventures of their own, while actually admires carol danvers without shitting on her, while her powers are completely different from her. Too bad about marvel ruining her in the last decade, and even now.

MC2 is just no longer canon future to the main line. If you haven’t accept that now I don’t know what to tell you.
The entire Marvel a universe has changed too much since the late 1990s for MC2 to come forth.

Ever since this character had its heyday on TV writers conflated that the more of a snarky asshole you were the smarter you must be except even this character actually had to work his way to solutions instead of being magically smart.

If anyone has the screencap of the old post about how the Cumberbatch Sherlock is just written as an asspull wizard instead of an intelligent character it would apply here.

Also this isn't limited to female characters, Batman has been a dumb ass for decades.

I think the flaw is the ole syndrome thing "if everyone is a super genius then no one is" if anything that should be a meme

>"hey did you ever notice the average intelligence has just gone up exponentially in the world?"
>>150039863
So empowerment, but think problem is their is no flaw from it usually. Only ones like valeria have a level of humbling to their super genius.
>>150039884
Definitely true but think it's got to the oversaturation point and fact most now just are too powerful. It used to be about proving one self and becoming better or learning to become a true hero. Now it's more about one upping their predicessor or being better than them in the most annoying and rude/disrespectful way. Like iron heart and the whole "tony isn't that impressive he's rich" lines and miles lines about how peter doesn't see this side of New york. It fundamentally drags down the orgiinal to raise the new.

Same with the super intellingence, most of these characters aren't gonna make it usually anyway. Look at moon girl, her show was pushed so hard and flopped. But she has tons of moments where she has to make other characters like valeria and reed look dumb but now she dragged them down and gained nothing.
>>150039959
Honestly is this basically just Valeria, she really used to fit more tinker but now she's a bit more of a thinker which isn't bad but her og "power" was she can make fantastical devices and tech. Now she's more just a super genius, but tinker might be more interesting to focus on with her again.

An a fun way to overall break this down, really need to read worm crazy it hasn't gotten a show or comic run yet. Such a well known capeshit series with no true long term artistic works.

Well it's because of the whole type of intellect girls fundamentally have different intelligence. Mean are problem solvers and have logical and spatial and situtional awareness IQ. While females have more emotional and developmental IQ. Not bad but true
