I think what's sadder about the Tron brand is that it very quickly got replaced by other similar properties. Most recently Amazing Digital Circus, same concept humans being trapped in a digital computer world. And it really doesn't help Tron that despite the potential it has its so drab and lifeless.

Its more depressing looking than The Matrix and you have to remember that The Matrix being gritty is intentional. And yet it feels more lively than Disney's Tron go figure.

And ultimately Luke is a lame character. He goes into the final battle and refuses to kill his evil father who has NEVER done anything for him and Luke's final tactic to win is......to take a gamble. Luke gambles on his father loving him enough to rescue him from the Emperor's torture. This is not how any logical hero operates. The only reason Luke wins is because the bad writing ensures that he wins. Realistically speaking even if Vader wants to help his son he received a critical injury by losing his hand robbing him of his weapon so Vader shouldn't have been able to beat the Emperor. Luke wins because bad writing shields him from consequences.
