What do you think the fastest time anyone ever abstracted was? The idea of someone joining the circus, getting the introduction from the cast and realizing they can’t leave, and abstracting almost immediately is spooky but I don’t think that would happen. I feel like it’s possible someone could’ve abstracted with maybe a day or two if they were already mentally unstable coming in.

well, since abstraction is related to the players being overwhelmed with emotions + mental break down (at least that's how it was presented with the ep1) I feel the "cure" to reverse it would involve a full mind wipe and player avatar reset to the moment the player have been first uploaded to the circus. Their old selves would be technically dead since they would loose memories and connection with the other players but at the same time they wouldn't have the feeling of dread/stress from the years of experiencing Caine's adventures.

Honestly this might sound kinda controversial but Pomni. She shows up and on her first adventures glitches out of the map something that if the others have done before have never spoken on. Connected with an npc to the point of it getting sentence and true awareness of its own existence. She's close to everyone and even has Jax second guessing himself because he's usually not close to anyone. etc.

Probably abstract immediately. I think one of the things tying people to the circus (and keeping them from abstracting) is strong emotional ties. I think the brains of PCs being constantly bombarded with data is what's killing them in some regard, so using emotional ties/hope/friendships/higher ideals keeps them mentally chugging further than they physically should be capable of. Filtering data out automatically, or allowing pressing past such constant noise without crumbling. Cheesy to say, but I imagine without such mechanism a sociopath would struggle significantly.

I LOVE the "You're not committing!" line from Jax in Episode 6 because of its double meaning. It obviously applies to the situation at hand with Pomni refusing to shoot Jax, but it's also Jax calling Pomni out for not committing to his particular flavor of nihilism and detachment. Pomni slipped into character pretty well during the episode but at the end, she took a step back to keep things real. There IS no stepping back for Jax. I feel like this lack of commitment from her frustrates him in some way, and much of that is why he exploded during their confrontation at the end.

I like this show, but one of the things that kept me from getting into it sooner, petty as it sounds, is the thumbnail of the pilot, I still think it’s terrible. IIRC Rose didn't know about the cluster and she decided to have Steven after 5000 years. You're right about Jax, he wasn't thinking consciously about it. He wanted to be close with Pomni and inadvertently shared stuff with her. I also don't think Ragatha was convinced of her own accusation that this was some master plan from Jax. She sounded unsure, a bit embarrassed when clarifying. I think she was speaking more out of her own fear of losing Pomni, than she was about Jax. Even if she was right, that Jax was trying to "corrupt" her, on some level.

It not having "purpose" isn't a problem. It's just not that fun. The jokes land more rarely, the pacing is odd. A lot of boring, genuinely uninspired shots. A lot of things just happen for no clear reason, a lot more than in later episodes. Compare to Gaslight District. Now that is a pilot jampacked with action, scenes, characterization, jokes, and worldbuilding for a very unique world. But it was a stellar watching experience despite all of it. Glitch has really grown these past few years in all departments.

It may very well be that with one of the things Goose said the show is about is finding comfort while suffering together if I remember right. Combined with all the dead bodies in the real world too they're either SOMA'd or Kinger managed to actually find a way to transport human consciousness into a virtual reality while their real bodies are long dead. If Goose does go full in on Able being a character then it's more than likely Kinger if Able isn't an NPC or some other person if he exists. Though there's a lot of other what ifs like disputing if Caine is an NPC or really could actually be a human. At least for Kinger we have:
- Only character with a wife
- Shepard role by acting as a guiding figure to the other members of the circus
- Has similar personality traits to bible Able
It would line up with Kinger ( and Queenie ) being the oldest person in the circus and very probably the first. Caine may have done something out of jealousy. But that's only really if Goose follows through on that whole biblical part of everything.
