Just recently binge watched season 1 of this show with my daughter and it was super good!
We really need more chill and cozy night time shows like this to drink some hot chocolate under the blankets and fall asleep to.
It's just interesting enough for adults while also funny/not serious or scary enough for the kiddos, really nails that perfect balance that many other shows fail at.

Are other seasons just as good?

Season 2 is great, most people say is better than S1. And puts more focus on Trollberg/the other monsters of the week.
There’s a movie after/part of S2 which is excellent, ‘Hilda and the Mountain King’, that’s a must
Season 3 is less good, it’s a timeskip to when she’s a teenager and basically all about Hilda’s daddy issues. Still got same quality but less variety.

Bullshit most people say S2 is the generic one that removes the sandbox aspect of the S1 episodes.
Mountain King + S3 is way better by following more of a structure you'd expect out of an adventure show and not a slice of life without feeling overly generic like S2

The problem with the writers at Netflix + Luke Pearson himself is that he didn't get any professional experience in writing and thus can't structure a story worth a shit.
S3 should have happened exclusively in the fairy town and the finale's ending should have had more of a definitive ending by killing the final boss without any room for the comics to develop on.

Luke Pearson takes a lot of inspiration from Moomin Valley, but doesn't have the experience to fully realize how to go about it or even realize what he's working with.

The show constantly has these melancholic scenes that help it set apart from other cartoons but they're far far inbetween and never quite reach what they're supposed to just like Steven Universe's soundtrack and world design they evoke a much better show and a different direction than is actually presented.

S3 is great cause it turns David from Ron Weasley from the movies into Ron Weasley from the books which feels a lot more like his big brothers.
I also enjoyed Mountain King + the finale of S3 for basically telling David & Frida to fuck off cause they're lesser than secondary characters that only got shoved into Netflix cause Netflix writers can't write worth a shit and don't know their place where a main character is separated from a secondary character and family > friends. Netflix writers are too stupid and distasteful to ever understand such concepts after all the Captain Planet propaganda they got fed as children. Except ye know Captain Planet had 0.001% the best of the best come aboard, not just any shmuck like Frida "I can't clean my own fucking room so I'll throw a nigger fit". I genuinely thought I accidentally watched Steven Universe there for a second.

I'm 29 this year, the older two boys are turning 4 (had them at 25) and my daughter is 3.

I had some ideas for some stories involving Twintails but I was sure that you guys would like them

Idea 1: This idea is based on the fact that Twintails and Kaisa have the same va. Twintails starts giving Frida nightmares but because Frida does magic, she can sense something is wrong. This leads Hilda, Frida, and David on a mystery hunt which eventually leads them to find out that Kaisa is Twintails. And that she turns into her by using shapeshifting magic and by doing a voice. (One of her talents is doing really good impressions) The first clue is a voice crack the sounds a little bit too much like the librarian, or a voice crack that sounds like twintails a little too much. (Your choice) the second is that she does not help them find a book on shapeshifting. Then, when they find out, they come up with a scheme to expose her to all the other Marras as payback for giving David and Frida nightmares.

Idea 2: Twintails gives David new kinds of nightmares that involve weird things that smell awful rather then scaring him to death. He ends up liking these dreams but he can't let twintails know that.

If I come up with more I will post them in the next Hilda thread with the previous ideas as one long post.

Well, in my AU, Klabauterman, is also the name of a ship's figurehead. Legends say that figureheads are alive and protect the ships where they are placed. They are also said to materialize in the form of a small Nordic child dressed in various ways, but always wearing a large coat over their clothes and a hood over their heads. In reality, the origins of the Klabautermänn are varied. Some are mylingar children or teens/young adults who were lost at sea and found a home among the timbers of ships, becoming a Klabautermann, or mylingar who were buried beneath a tree used in the construction of a ship, or children saved by the tides (giantesses daughters of Ægir) and transformed into children spirits, or children who were killed at sea and their souls found a ship to inhabit. They appear to help the ship in critical situations, repairing it or navigating it in dire times. It is a terrible sign for the ship when a Skipsrá appears, as it is a sign of a ship in its final moments. Protector of ships, he also bears the name Skipsrá (ship guardian spirit). They resemble mylingar but differ in their colors and in clothes, wearing their famous Klabautermann coat.

Basically saying, a Klabautermann is mostly a mylingar who went to sea, like how a draugr is a sea ghost.

In my AU, Mylingar, also known as útburður, are the souls of children, usually unburied, who roam ruins and surrounding areas looking for victims to help them with various tasks so they can finally rest. These are often nearly impossible tasks, such as carrying them from one place to another (mylingar can increase their weight to hundreds of pounds and grow to the size of a forest giant cub) or bringing them nearly unobtainable items, as mylingar are mischievous spirits who love to spread chaos and disorder. Known for their chilling songs and whistles, one way to put a myling to rest is to discover their name and give them a proper burial. Mylingar who are lost at sea or caught by the Tides or by Rán become Klabautermänn after entering the timbers of a ship. They differ from ordinary ghosts in that they have bodies like the livings, but with paper-white skin, glowing red eyes, and hair aflame with ghostly flames. They become easily angered and throw tantrums when they fail to harm their victims.

That's a fun idea, assuming they're older for this? I want to add on to that by suggesting a bunch of other magical mishaps with the teleport. For example, in addition to teleporting naked, Hilda has turned into a deerfox monster girl, Frida becomes multiplied with all the Frida's trying to cover each other up, Louise getting a massive increase in her chest and ass size, and David becoming ripped to the awe of the girls - or alternatively ending up shrunk (ideally in Louise's cleavage) while the others don't see him and think he just turned invisible

I also headcanonned something similar to that. Since in Hildaverse you notice they kept the myth of “dead people on land rest in the grave, dead people at sea will never be at rest”. So it makes sense they’re like a child’s version of that, where they find shelter as part of a boat. Never thought of making them part of the masthead though, i really like that addition, it’s a good idea for why they’d make those!

A klabautermann is as a rule (in my AU at least) a young spirit no older than 16, 17 at best, so they're all young adults to teen, kids and maybe even younger (could actually be a good spinoff, a marine/pirate mum loses her child and it becomes her ship's guardian spirit).

Also yeah the coat is something they are most known by (that, the smoking pipe, red hair, glowing eyes and green teeth) and so all Klabautermänn wear them (it's cold at sea XD)

Now that I finished them, I may make the mylingar. With them, I can theoretically be more gruesome like making swords and arrows sticking out of their bodies; some body parts floating, some more "undead" look on them since they are basically the land version of the Klabautermänn, but without being guardians, just vengeful and trickster spirits
