Assuming you're telling the truth, that's extremely disappointing but it's still better than what I feared. I was starting to legitimately fear the leaks that Gwen Poole was going to possess Gwen Stacypool and gain mutant regen in an attempt to make her even closer to Deadpool, which would have been disastrous for her character.

This ending is just extremely hacky by comparison. It's yet another writer who doesn't get Gwen thinking he's Grant Morrison and writing himself into the story to correct Gwen on problems she already got over in Unbelievable (these issues brought up aren't inaccurate to Gwen but he's just copying Chris Hasting's homework here, she already went through this arc in her first comic) and pretending like problems he himself introduced to her story are intrinsic problems to her because no writer can bother to read her origin story.

It's shit but it's the kind of shit you can just forget and move on from, way easier to ignore than the mutant retcon (which everyone ignores) and the asexual shit (which everyone wants to ignore but Marvel mandates make it really difficult)

Gwenpool's another victim of Marvel's endless fellation of the status quo. Gwen's thing is that she's a Z-lister who wants to be an A-lister, that's her equivalent of Bruce Banner wanting to cure himself of the Hulk, or Ben Grimm wanting to cure himself of the Thing, or Peter Parker wanting to cure himself of being a single loser. If Gwen actually accomplishes her goal, there's nothing left for her to strive for, or at least Marvel stubbornly believes that. So she's doomed to never be a major player, precisely because wanting to be that and never getting it is what defines her character.

Yes, indeed I did. Though not without reason. The way I see it America Chavez is more akin to a feral child rather than the example you gave. In my interpretation America’s social development was stunted due to her removal from her home dimension at the age of 8. Because of the danger posed by the worlds she encountered afterwards, she effectively grew up on survival skills with all social behaviors being secondary.
Interestingly this actually means that her social skills are very lopsided in favor of keeping herself alive. She’s very good at determining if people want to harm her, capture her, or convincing them to trade/make an alliance for the sake of a common goal. But she’s significantly worse at navigating more low stakes day to day social interactions necessary for life in the modern age

Honestly Gwenpool feels like a Moneky Paw wish. You get an excellent character with an amazing design and top tier art with an actually interesting and good story on the Hastings run but know all her comics are absolute trash.

Marvel just did the character as a crashgrab because of that Deadpool variant cover. They didn't pay atention to who was doing the series an accidentally made a perfect match with Hastings-Gurihiru Strychalski was good too on the first series. When Marvel noticed the character was popular after the cancelation they couldn't understand what made it good (I mean, makes sense, they canceled her only good series). So they continued with their modus operandi. Cash grab, cash grab, cash grab.

There's a really sad meta-reading on the Hastings run. Gwenpool refused to do what Marvel wanted and they just killed her.

I actually really like the idea of Gwen being a femcel, it fits in too perfectly with the rest of her loser persona. My only gripe was the writer trying to make it look like this ONE THING (being a Gwencel) was the sole reason Gwen hates the monotony of IRL when there are countless other reasons for her to hate it too laid out. 3. Give her some new interesting villains to fight. The last few arcs have consisted of Gwen's only real villain being A) herself (and not the cool Evil Future Gwen either) and B) her writer. She had the makings of a solid rogues gallery in Unbelievable (the Squid aliens, MODOK, Vincent, Future Gwen, etc) so I would say try adding to that.

Also being a way to backdoor writing characters I like as guest stars for each issue. It ends with her getting fired, which she expected since she had a 0% success rate.

There's the angle that she knows a character like that, who can't hold a book and just drifts around, is gonna get mulched at some point. She'll be a Namorita or Black Goliath or whatever, who'll die to make an event move forward and nobody'll care to bring her back. But under that, it's also a pretty relatable struggle for a good number of readers. She's free of the structure that used to define her, she can do whatever she wants, and she's just kinda been bumming around.
I won't pretend that pic related was the crux of the Hasting's run, but it was something people could relate to, and I think that's something she can offer. Instead of fourth-wall breaking adventures trying to make herself relevant, have her just try to reconnect with her friends and get her supporting cast back. Give her something small, something personal, something the reader wants to see her succeed at.
