While I get where people who think the show didn't look good are coming from, I actually liked the art style. My only problem with it is how inconsistent it was at times, like how June Way seemed to constantly change her shoes mid scene.
You hit the nail on the head about it feeling scatterbrained. The show would introduce a character, concept or plot point only to fucking immediately move onto something else. It really did feel like Genndy was just throwing whatever shit he could think of at a wall.

The conflict around the main character chick objecting to having her body stolen by some "heroes" was really interesting, but barely brought up. The show had interesting ideas, but it felt like it lacked the confidence in itself to actually dwell on those ideas, seemingly because it's not sure if I the show would get a second season or not.

Just to torpedo the chances of there being any chemistry further, EVERY SINGLE PLOT revolved around a lack of communication that would have felt hacky in a highschool film class. No one ever communicated anything to each other, even when it would have been rational to do, in character, and benefit the person talking! God damnit I WANTED to like this show. There are great ideas! I loved the robot, especially that he communicated mainly in whistles! It was the kind of quirky fun that matches the rubber hose animation. I liked the stoned out of his mind kid that literally floated around everywhere! I even kind of liked the plot around the whole body snatching soul thing that was going on with the elf and the Betty Boop girl. But EVERY PLOT POINT HUNG ON THEM NOT FUCKING TALKING TO EACH OTHER!
