No it isn't, you have to be transported to another world solo for it to be an Isekai. The Mario Bros went down the plumbing together.

Oh yes, the first show that literally was just "Generic cliche Movie parodies and random Cartoon plots" with the Mario characters slapped in.

At least the 2nd series (Mario 3) had the actual game aesthetics, short as it was.
