What is going on here? Is Lackadaisy struggling to churn out content that they need Glitch production to help them boost their IP?

From their perspective it’s a no-brainer to go with glitch given they’re currently the biggest name in the indie animation scene. They get their funding so money’s no longer a worry and just having the glitch name attached to it is more advertising than anything they’ve done beforehand, and that’s not even including what actual advertising glitch will do for them

How is Lackadaisy still even relevant, that webcomic like died out in the early 2010s and they've floated the idea of an animation over and over again but to no success. The thing was made to fail and has failed to get launched over and over again.

Not just exclusively faggots, but theater kids and annoying autists. I went to animation school and everyone there was one of the three, no exceptions. I suppose I fit into autist category but I don't really talk much so they thought I was just a downer. It just attracts rejects, because non rejects go into actual film because they don't drop their spaghetti every two seconds. Dykes always drop out first it seems for some reason. They're probably doing the Netflix thing where they're getting crazy zero interest loans based off clout and the thought that they will somehow churn out massive profits at some point. Alternatively, they're simulcast to Netflix deals are doing a majority of the heavy lifting since most of these people probably wouldn't sign with Netflix if offered but will sign with Glitch as a middle man.

It's the project management triangle. You can have it good, fast, or cheap - but you can only pick two.
I think Lackadaisy tried to fall into the good and cheap categories. However with animation, the longer a production takes, the more expensive it gets. So they were likely hitting a wall where they'd have to start sacrificing quality (and job satisfaction for their staff).
My guess is they went with glitch so they could go the good and fast(er) route now, instead of good and 'cheap'.

You can believe this or not but I work at Glitch. They really do give almost total creative control with exception to minor parts of episodes going over scope and making production unmanageable while adding little to the overall episode.

Obviously I can't show you proof of this but I can say this. Look at the progression of polish, detail and runtime on our shows. We're continuously upping the quality and quantity. Look how much longer our Digital circus episodes have gotten. If the executives were just like Disney we'd be churning out episodes the exact same length of digital circus EP 1 with the same tone, same quality. Instead the show got darker tonely and respected Gooseworks vision.

I do agree our shows all follow similar tropes and that's a valid criticism. The important part to note however is that the executive intervention on shows really only happens when their picking projects from available pitches. Once a show gets selected the executives are very hands off.

We're not perfect but we're not the same as Disney.

I don't care enough about convincing you of my authenticity to risk my employment. That's why I made the point about episode quality and length in hopes you'd be able to validate what im saying for yourself.

Also consider why we're not giving fans murder drones season 2. It'd be a money printing machine if we do so why are we only doing a music video and some small promotional shorts? It's because Liam has already told the story he wanted to tell and the executives are respecting that even though the fan base want it. We'd love to make a season 2 but only if the creator is ready and willing.

Lackadaisy is shit, visually the show is boring AF, all the designs are just boring cats with little variety, I fucking hate Digshithole Circus and Hazshit Hotel but to give credit where credit is due at least shows can or at least try to be visually interesting and have variety in their designs. The only people who think this garbage looks good are 14 year old Warrior Cats fangirls. It also angers me that Glitch is only focusing on loreshit with their shows, if they really wanted to show that they have variety why not greenlight a wacky cartoon? I'm tired of lore being everywhere, give me something entertaining and funny, something wacky would seem better for a marketing standpoint anyway, all their shit shows are due to end when they can just keep a wacky show going 4eva and continue to merchandise off it.

The biggest obstacle we must overcome for a second animation Renaissance to truly happen is to ditch the loreshit and go back to classics and truly understand what makes a cartoon work, that helped us during our first animation Renaissance, take influence from classic western cartoons to truly showcase the western cartoon identity, countries like Japan love when western animators make shows that look western rather than shitty action Tumblr fakime.
