We kinda had a similar story here in Brazil in the late 2000's with the Elite Squad movie. Some faggot did a film about the Rio de Janeiro's special forces, their hardcore training and how they deal with criminals in a balls-to-the-wall way. The faggot wanted to dehumanize the police and show that their violent approach to crime is ineffective, but the people absolutely loved the police and cheered whenever a criminal would die.
One of the characters is a sociology college teacher that was supposed to be the voice of reason, and he was seen as a pampered bourgeois that had no idea of what the real world is like.
Also fun fact: the actor that plays Captain Nascimento is a leftist faggot as well.
Three years later we got Elite Squad 2. Captain Nascimento becomes a secretary and the entire movie boils down to "whatever he did as an officer and what he's doing now is pointless", his wife leaves him to marry the sociology teacher, and the sociology teacher becomes a heroic congressman who becomes the real threat to the "system".
