This comic has proven time and time again that no matter what Mike does to get new friends, if he even tries, old drama and friends will follow along.

The MMO and Track team groups showed this. He cannot escape. I think that even if he DID move to another school, the old drama would follow. Because taeshi remembers that social media is a thing in universe and Mike starts getting cyberbullied by an anonymous account that starts to bring up the lucy stuff and go viral
