I Am Weasel was a show that was popular when it aired and was considered better than Cow & Chicken (hence why it even got a spinoff in the first place), but these days, its considered one of THE worst Cartoon Network shows ever and is hated on the internet, particularly /co/ who calls it "meh" or "terrible". It got the point where it lost to MGPAM in a CN poll, and we call agree that show is much, much worse.

The funny thing is nobody ever explains why its a bad show. At its core, its about Weasel and Baboon having different jobs/roles in every episode, ranging from vikings, gladiators, cavemen, vampires, worker bees etc.. Structured similiar to Golden Age cartoons. The overall setup is too simple to be bad and it offers enough variety, clever gags and interesting set pieces to be a fun watch. Nobody ever considers Droopy and Dripple or Timon and Pumbaa bad cartoons for following a similiar formula. Hell, Tingblad Bravo followed this formula, and many consider it better than the Partible seasons.

Also Michael Dorn as Weasel is fantastic casting, that guy has a great voice.

The funny thing is that the staff who worked on it still remembers it after 3 decades and praises it, so I imagine /co/ just have shit taste. Even Bob Camp himself gave it praise.

Fred Seibert praised it despite not being part of What A Cartoon, only existing when Cow and Chicken was a series as the middle cartoon. It is also the very last new series by Hanna-Barbera, before Cartoon Network Studios opened in May 2000.

Season 1 was mediocre, but it got retooled in Season 2 since it got too stale. Weasel and Baboon became friends, the humor got upped, new characters were introduced, and Red Gyy became an antagonist. Soms say he’s forced, but there are still plenty of episodes without Red.

I'm gonna be honest, I actually love Cow and Chicken and think it's better than Ren and Stimpy, but I was never a big fan of IM Weasel. Both the middle segments and the full series are just not as funny as Cow and Chicken and it's telling that they had to add the Red Guy in order to make it work.

From I Am Cliched. One of the biggest criticism of the TTA was that most of the Tiny Toons are, more or less, carbon copies of their Looney Tunes counterparts and half the show's humor comes from rehashing the same gags and jokes from the original Looney Tunes shorts.

This also goes deeper since Charlie Adler was the original voice of Buster Bunny, but left TTA. The head of WBA later bought HB and wanted Adler dead for what he had done to her. Funny ass story.

This was still 90s TV. Back then, if a show truly flopped, then the network would intentionally bury it and never rerun it again. This is not the case for Weasel, as people born after it ended still saw it since it still had decent reruns. Disney had a bunch of 90s cartoons that never saw much rerun life (Nightmare Ned, Shnookums and Meat, Raw Toonage, Marsupilami etc...)

The hell does this mean? Feiss is an animator himself, not a script-driven creator. And the characters of Weasel was made smart is to play against type, since weasels in animation up until that point were always antagonistic. And I.R. is a baboon since he wants to be taken seriously and respected, but people keep laughing at his red butt, so they just see him as a joke. He was initially a gorilla in the concept phase.
