Well, to be frank, you're wrong about that, at least for homosexuality. There's ample evidence that it has little variation over the course of someone's life, there are no external post-natal factors that correlate with it, and it's probably strongly influenced by prenatal endocrine environment. Conversion therapy also has such abysmal success rates that if it were held to the same standards as medical treatments it would never be undergone.

Homosexual activity is a behavior, just by definition, and that's important for some ideologies (i.e. the Catholic church is careful to distinguish between "homosexual tendencies," which aren't a sin, and activity, which is). But the bottom line is that some people are much more attracted to the same sex than others, and much less attracted to the opposite sex than others, and there's not anything they can really do to change that.

That's an apples-to-oranges comparison because it's talking about behavior rather than the trait that causes it. Going to therapy to keep from cheating is about changing the mental patterns that would lead to you cheating. It's not about preventing you from feeling any sexual attraction to anyone who's not your spouse. For conversion therapy to be apples-to-apples it would be about making gay people celibate, not making them straight. And making people adhere to voluntary celibacy is difficult, but still easier than changing their sexual preference. That should tell you something.

Just watched episodes 1-6 for the first time and why do people like Jax? I get that down the road, he’ll have some trauma that is causing him to not attach to people, but as it stands he’s just an asshole. Everyone goes through shit, but you don’t have to be cruel and detached as a coping mechanism, topping it off by acting like you’re above it all. All the other characters go through the same shit and they aren’t assholes.

I thought the emotional stuff was handled better in ep 5 than 6. 6 was the first time the show felt heavy handed at times in its emotional approach. It’s fine, but again it kind of fall flat to me that it revolved around Jax, as you can see what they want to do with his character from a mile away.
