I'll be real with you, that episode sucked, that was super disappointing. Last episode was incredibly good, but this one had no good jokes. I think the issue is that they got too hooked on the "banal talk = funny." You watch the first season and there's just a barely restrained manic energy to everything. Everything's constantly scurrying around, quickly punching the shit out of each other/stomping each other in, shouting and screaming and being weird. The few moments where they just talked "for real" was a funny contrast to that.

Now it makes up a large chunk of the dialogue and has brought the energy down a lot. It also doesn't help that it feels like there's far less running around and the world itself seems less weird. Like every background before would be filled to the brim with ambiguous critters just running in and out, and characters like living mascot characters and goblins from an Enchanted Forest were normal occurrences.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed this.The backgrounds definitely feel way more stale? Lifeless? (Silly Sam ep wasn't too bad about that, at least) compared to the earlier seasons.

Still really like the show, but I think they're at that stage where the steam is running out on new material, visually and writing. Especially if they have to put out another season or two.
