Despite how bad he wants it, Archie and Veronica aren't really that great of a couple and I can see him being a better fit with Betty, Cheryl, etc. although I don't think about it much since all the girls should be dating me.

It wasn't like that in the first season. Retsuko is arguably BELOW average. It's the "oh shit it was popular how do we write more" seasons that turned it into typical womanslop about a plain girl with no confidence who is actually amazing somehow.

In season 2 a billionaire falls in love with her but she ends up dumping him.

In season 4 she foils major financial fraud at the big company where she works.

In season 5 she runs for parliament against the chosen successor of the decades-long incumbent and does well, although losing.

After season 1 it's all amazing shit she stumbles into. The most amazing thing that happens in season 1 is the trick to get the president of the company to tell off her boss for bullying her, and that wasn't even her idea.
