How do I have run a successful garage sale? I have a bunch of shit I want gone and some other shit I wouldn't mind getting rid of, and a few things (also shit) that absolutely have to go.

What's the best way to ensure that I can get rid of it and maximize the money I get for it?

What do you have anon?
If it's junk like old clothes and cheapo furniture, then throw it the fuck away.
Not worth burning a weekend to recover $50.
If you have actual useful stuff like tools you no longer need, small stuff goes to fleabay, the rest you can find a local auction house.
I recently got rid of my old AC compressor like that. Just pulled it to the auction, never seen again, in a month I got a $90 check in mail for it.

A lot. Kids toys, kids clothes, home theatre stuff, a few TVs, speakers, some old video games and consoles, home gym equipment, golf clubs, a chandelier we never used, a bbq, a futon, misc furniture that is crap. It's actually useful stuff that we don't use not a bunch of useless cut glass antiques. I do have a few vintage electronics that should probably go though.

Sell the games online. Depending on what you have some nerd will overpay for it.

Put it all out there. Price the stuff you absolutely want gone as cheap as you can to get it gone. Put higher prices on the stuff that you think you could sell online or at an auction house for a decent price. Let people rummage around and buy your crap for a couple days, and then pull back in what didn't sell. Donate everything not worth taking to the auction house or selling online. Take the rest immediately to auction.
