Dogshit
Dogshit
md5: 5027b7e463d85ab1394fa121f65f4cc0🔍
What the fuck happened to this store? I used to shop here religiously. Their website and app are DOGSHIT. There's so much retarded security theater horseshit I can't even use my rewards cash OR change any of my details. I literally went into the store after spending $1,000 on a washing machine to use my $10 in rewards cash (that only lasts a month btw, because the company is cheap and greedy). The fucking QR code was right there on my phone with a bright fucking red "$10" on it. I could see it, but I couldn't use it because I had to jump through 15 authentication hoops just to access it, EVEN THOUGH I WAS SIGNED INTO THE FUCKING APP ALREADY. And because all my other accounts, like my email, are pulling the same shit I can't access them EITHER on my phone, only my computer. Called customer service and of course they can't do shit, nor is there anyone to even suggest changes to. That's it. Everything's fucked and I'm just not going to shop at your store anymore.

BLACK

FUCKING

LISTED.

It's not just my phone. The stupid security codes aren't even making it to my email I access from my computer either. This is just basic bitch dev-lead security theater madness. My fucking bank can be signed into with a single click, but I'm locked out of changing my email address for a hardware store? This is fucking stupid.

This happened to me the other day too. Tried to use a reward, app told me I had to do a text verification, tried but it didn't show up in any reasonable amount of time and I couldn't stand there at the register all day.

Just did it now and it did go through, but it was still annoying, had me put my number in but then sent a code to my email, and then after I entered that it sent another code to my phone. At least now I can finally use the damn $10 next time I'm there.

HD's website is essentially nonfunctional, too, and has been for years now. It's so bad I can barely get an online order in and just gave up on trying entirely. Lowes still works ok for me for price/inventory lookup without taking 30 minutes to load a page.
I worked at HD and remember seeing a segment on the internal network showcasing all their (non-white) IT employees sitting around on beanbags and yoga balls and suddenly the rapid decline of their site made a ton of sense.

Two words: Marvin Ellison

>Q. Do you think the government should require vaccine mandates and testing at companies?

>A. What we're going to do at Lowe's is we're going to be compliant to any government requirement. If the mandate comes from OSHA for us as a retailer, we're goiing to spend zero time debating whether or not the government has the right to do it. We're just going to execute it because that's the role we have to play.

What other choice is there, though? HD is just as bad if not worse about the same stuff, and way worse in a lot of other ways, at least I can actually find shit at Lowe's and grab it off the shelf myself, find an employee if I need one, they usually have stock of the shit I want, etc., unlike HD where the whole store is trashed and disorganized, everything is locked up, and there usually seems to be one person running a cluster of self-checkouts and zero other employees to unlock a fucking $15 screwdriver or whatever for you.

Sorry, no. Once a company burns me they're dead to me for life. Lowe's will have to make this right before I ever shop there again, and I don't see them doing that anytime soon. This is one of those nobody's responsible the devs are in charge they're a different team probably located in another country with zero oversight and all of the bugs are considered features issues.

the only issue I have is that they take about an hour to load your vehicle with a special order and half the time it is damaged, so you've just wasted over an hour of your time and need to go back into the store and have the customer service desk reorder your item and hope that they won't fuck it up again because by the time the replacement gets there you have lost a week. Also, and this isn't just on them but is more of an industry issue, their framing lumber is the most trashy shit I have ever seen. Twisted to shit and splits if you look at it wrong.

Marvin Ellison is a creature for sure. He was part of why Home Depot has slowly become a shitshow, was on the board when FedEx started to fail and lost the Amazon accounts, ran JC Penney into the ground as CEO. I remember him as an executive at Home Depot and his face was all over the place in videos we had to watch for corporate training, he is a corporate hatchet man for sure and he will kill Lowe's before the decade is up.

I just order online if it is something I need in the future for a project from Amazon or eBay (Depends on if it is the lowest price available). I have local suppliers for a ton of construction materials (Might not be an option for you depending on where you live) and if I need to go to Lowe's it is because I'm cruising through their clearance sections. Harbor Freight if I need to buy hand tools or something simple and if it is actually trade related I have online specialty vendors for a ton of the things I need.

I will still go to Lowe's or HD if I need lumber or something similar as their pro desk/deliveries are accessible and I can have materials delivered to quite a few areas that the suppliers for lumber are not delivering to.

You're right, that would have been the logical thing to do. Especially when I literally said I will never shop here again if this doesn't work. And do you know what the manager did? She offered to cover the $9 for my $9 and some change item "as a courtesy to me" and then make me pay the change still. For something that should have been free and then I had a full $10 to cover. That was the last straw I stormed out of the store and never came back.

You guys have some pretty unrealistic expectations, imo. I honestly don't know how you can expect so much. These are big box stores. This isn't Amazon. Maybe you're young. Anyway, places like HD, Lowe's, Staples, etc. have been getting rekt by coupon and price match scammers (probably selfish and/or incompetent managers/sales reps, too) and they've finally made it to the "we just can't have nice things" point. That's probably why there's so much "security".

Some grocery store chains are getting this bad. They advertise sale prices all across the store; then at checkout you're subject to facial recognition, kyc with your account info, all the sales are divided across online or app or some other stick and carrot ploy, and they're implementing dynamic peak hour pricing. They'll attempt to charge you more because they think they can.

I've never seen stores go from very good to pure dystopian shit so fast. Vote with your dollars.

Lowes fucking SUCKS. The two by me now run daily with zero (0) registers open. Terrible inventory. For example I wanted to wire up a hot tub. Do you know how much THWN wire Lowes had? None.

Home Depot no better either. I recently ordered 2 bags of charcoal mail order. Why not if shipping is free. Well they didn't package the order so one bag vanished from the shipment. I called them to get a refund on the missing bag. The call went like this:
- "HRO DIS RNJEET *CRCCCKKK* jhbdhjfcbhjsd fhjkwer"
- "Uh yeah hi I didn't understand any of that, I'm calling about order #2333-*click*

Fuckin jeet hung up the phone on me. So I file a charge back for the missing amount. At which point Home Depot responds to the chargeback with photocopies of the website footer?? which Chase took as proof and denied my claim.

One more Home Depot story. This thread is now about Home Depot.

Went online and ordered a stove. Paid for installation and haul-away. My old stove was the flush mount style elevated a few inches off the floor. Not a plug-and-play job but simple nonetheless. I figured for the price why not.

Brown guy shows up takes one look at the stove and then grabs the handle and rips as hard as he can. The stove clatters to the floor. He then says he can't install the new one as this is a 110v model (it wasn't). I tell him okay that is fine I will do the install, can you please remove the charge. He dicks around on a smartphone and then hands me a blank screen and tells me to sign.

"I'm not signing something if I don't know what it is, where is the text?"
"Just sign it"
"No"
"Alright"

In a huff, he packs up the new stove back into his truck and drives off, leaving me with a trashed kitchen. I ended up doing the install myself--glad I did because I discovered cu and al wire-nutted together on the whip.

You have to reopen the charge back claim. It's a game wveryone plays woth charge backs. You send charge back so your company believes you. They wait 25 days to try and make you forget about it, then they counterclaim woth whatever evidence. Now the credit card believes them. You need to counter again and say their shot is byllshit.

This is all automated. Do this two or three times to see if they really have the balls to follow through. Eventually you can escalate the issue and a human at the credit card may actually looks at it

T. Got my warranty covered by the shitty tire store that did this for 4 months.

I'm suspecting it's negligence due to who the companies hire. Lowes, Home Depot, and even Harbor Freight (especially the latter for their POS system) used to have "private cloud" for their infrastructure. This was 6-7 years ago. Their admins were already questionable. Now it's most likely gotten worse. Now with front end software engineering being shit and nothing being resource considerable you have terrible websites.

I did some IT consulting for them way back in 2004. The company was quite right wing back then. Employees were openly celebrating Bush getting re-elected and the entirety of "Main Street" (the long hallway that connects all three HQ buildings) was covered in Blue Star flags.
It doesn't surprise me that they've gone along with all the trendy ESG stuff. There's lots of money in doing it and pretty much every corporate HR department is little more than commissars ensuring that the fashionable DEI/ESG policies are enacted. If not, they'll rat the company out to media. Looking at the company's job postings shows they're far more interested in your physical attributes and what you do with your genitals than they are interested in your abilities.
Which isn't to say there wasn't some weirdness going on back then. I was down on a training floor one day and found where some trainee from a store had scribbled gang symbols in the restroom. Who the fuck tried to mark territory in a place they're only going to be for a week or so? I didn't check what training had been going on but usually you had to be a manager or a sales specialist to end up in Atlanta for training.
