Currently working on repairing the subflooring in my kitchen to lay down LVP (terrible stuff, I know). Encountered this shit earlier and I'm wondering if, after clearing out all the bits of debris, I can just use self-leveling concrete on it or if I should use some sort of filler beforehand. You guys have any idea?

Looks like someone else already went the self leveler route and forgot te bonding agent. You have to scrape all that flaky shit off and do it properly this time

We took it a bit further and tore out all the crumbly shit, cleaned it out well

Filled it with concrete patching, now letting it cure

Just use some Ardex, anon. Easier than self leveling

The curing process always freaks me out a bit lol

That can't be good.
What mortar did you use?

Too much water in the mix. Also put plastic over it while it cures. Concrete and cement shouldnt dry out during curing, it needs moisture to harden.

Lvp has an attached underlayment padding. Real landlords would smash drywall mud into the void and move forward, no one would know the difference.

This was pre-mixed stuff, are you sure it isn't just compacting?

Believe me, I was tempted to take the shortcut but these condos are built like shit so I want to at least try to mitigate the chaos

I mean, what else could be done? The stuff is pre-mixed. Maybe nix the AC?

You know what is cheaper than self level? Drywall patch, same effect.
