How to put a toilet in the closet?
The current toilet situation is no longer a viable option in my home. A second toilet is needed and I refuse to pay literal thousands to have a plumber do something I could do.

If I know the tools, equipment, supplies and steps needed to carry out this project, then I don’t understand why I couldn’t do it myself.

I’ve tried looking up some (how to) videos and information about how to install a toilet in a closet from scratch so to speak but have had no success.

Everything I’ve read seems to only be geared towards repairing, replacing or simply fixing an already existing toilet.

I need to know how to do the whole thing but have yet to find any info. I can buy the toilet, the tools, supplies and everything else that I need, I just need to know how to do it.

The house plumbing is all PVC, I need to drill a hole in the floor, in install whatever is needed, put a toilet in, run a water line to
The toilet and tap into the main drain line. Can anyone point me to a book, website, video?

You need to know actual plumbing to land the drains, vent, and supplies. You wouldn't be here if you did. The rest is handyman shit. Good luck with that wallpaper.

Go to archive . org and find plumbing books. They will have books that explain the details, odds are you can find a legitimate text book that was used to train tradesmen.

All of this. Not a super-easy job. You need to know how to plumb a bathroom. Youtube "how to plumb a bathroom".

then you won't be getting a toilet in a closet.

You will never do this. you do not have the skills needed. you can't even find the information. just pay a man to do it for you.

that's because you will never find information specific to putting it in a closet.

Create a composting toilet and put a portable sink in there that has a freshwater jug and wastewater jug.

Dont forget peat moss/dirt to cover your shit and dont piss in your shit toilet. You need a separate one for piss. Maybe a small ventilation fan too.

That will be $500 fee. Pay up.

Sorry to burst your bubbles everyone but plumbing isn’t rocket science at all. Sorry. It’s just not. It’s not even close to being as complex or as complicated as something like HVAC or Electrical Wiring is. Pretend all you want lol.

It’s literally a matter of knowing the steps local codes, and having the proper tooling.

OP, My cousin did the same thing you’re looking to do, he’s not a plumber. Was quoted at $5k for (materials and labor), he priced the materials himself as being just over $300 including a brand new toilet. Decided to do it himself, nobody would help him because it’s an ego boost for them. The fact that they know how when he didn’t made them feel like they were privy to some rare esoteric knowledge. He found an old plumbing book, and did it himself. He did it so well when he sold his house the project he did was more up to code than other things in the house.

All these people mouthing off either don’t know how and won’t admit it, or know that it’s not that difficult but find it fun to pretend it is because it makes them feel better about themselves.

Your going to look for- rough plumb in of toilet. And 100% you can run a drainpipe into one of the pipes that drains into the sewer.

I don't think you have enough data for this to be really easy or hard. If I was Op based on the knowledge they don't have, I'd just hire out the plumbing part and do the rest myself.

>>2937330 (OP)
When I did my first bathroom from scratch it was in my basement, cue cutting out concrete from my slab and installing pipes, it was a nightmare introduction to plumbing. If I was richer then I had hired it out. If you are doing this on the main floor and have an unfinished basement, you have a chance at making it work by carefully reading code and following that. You'll need to connect your drains to existing plumbing, basically the only hard part, the rest is easy. You can save the headaches and pay a plumber to rough it in for you.

I did plumbing high school, very true it's not rocket science. There are little things and tricks of the trade but its not impossible for non-plumbers to do it, depending on their level of handiness. A big part will be whats surrounding the closet, as anon said an unfinished basement would be ideal.
but if you have to start getting into cutting out drywall, not exactly knowing where your water lines are LOL it could get messy and frustrating quick. Also soldering copper lines, while not rocket science, does take a bit of practice to get right. OP pro tip if you decide to go through with it make sure you let the lines run for an hour and test the drainage before sealing everything back up, good luck.

fixing this kind of shit can be a full time job. when you 3% instead of 4% and it all seems fine then sell the house and I have to dig it out.

also inb4 he taps a vent pipe and the basement dryer winds up full of shit much like yourself

ok anyone can connect pipes but what about the sick looking interior that's still part of plumbing?
Anonymous No.2943385
the only pain here is cleaning out your closet and doing the rough plumbing
do you know where you're tying the drains into? does there just happen to be a 3" vent stack in that wall where you want the toilet? otherwise
you're chipping up your floor to the nearest location with 3 inch drains or running it through the footer to the exterior outside the wall and tying it to your outside sewer line
if you have a basement or crawl space it's significantly easier, but still need to connect to existing plumbing and have a vent
you'll be removing walls and flooring no matter what

You have to split the research.
-Search up on how to reroute plumbing
-Search up on how to install a new toilet in a new room

Try looking for resources for contractors, most DIYers are not this ambitious

Installing a toilet flange isnt for the faint of heart. You would also need to plumb in the water supply.. for this reason most homes are built with the toilet plumbing already installed where its supposed to go. There are special angles for toilet drain plumbing to ensure the shit/toilet water/tp all flow at the correct speed so as not to clog. Its a very technical task best left to professionals.. im pretty handy but I wouldnt want to attempt anything like this without a pro there to at least babysit me and oversee the project. Got any plumbing buddies to lend you a hand? Chances are he'd just tell you that youre retarded and not to fuck with it.

you're a fuckin faggot
toilets are 3in pvc with 1/8th pitch, it isn't rocket science and it's same as main for the house
literallty the only complication is getting pipe to the location which is all demolition work
Anonymous No.2944115 >>2944116

Bullshit. You cant do it. Ever install one?
Installing pipe isn't an issue. You have to get the angles exactly right.

Yea. Exactly. That why you would know how to do it and why I wouldn't attempt to do that without knowing what im doing. And thats what I said. Thanks for proving my point.

Why do you need it in the house?

Wouldn't it be easier to dig a hole in your yard and install a septic tank?

Better yet just install an build an old outhouse in the backyard. This way, it will smell like human shit outside and you have a natural bear deterrent.
