Why are gears so expensive?
I don’t want to pay $15 for a gear

Gears are machined, with big machines. Big machine is big expensive. You can 3D print a shitty plastic gear for $0.1 but it's gonna be shitty and +tic.

That's cool and all but it's probably going to fail in about 1000 times less time than it takes for one of the metal gears to fail.

you missed the point where it did exactly what it needed to do
in fact its service life duration appeared to be many orders of magnitude longer the needed for intermittent use
