Am I stupid?
I like this chair, despite it being really ugly. Also, all of the faux leather peeling off and getting everywhere. I want to cover it in duct tape to keep the faux leather from getting everywhere, as I think the powdery stuff is getting in my cat's water bowl and I may be inadvertently eating some of it, too. I'm not gonna die of turbo cancer, right?

I've never done DIY anything before, so I want someone with experience to tell me if I'm missing an easier or better solution. What would you do in this situation?

Wrap a sheet around it, staple on one side, pull it tight and staple the other

Oh, that sounds like a good idea! You just gave me a great idea, too!
I put a pillowcase around the top. I had to pull the other armchair off, and it took a while. I had no idea how to unscrew the nail. It looked like a hexagon. How do I do the chair part? Do I wrap the sheet around the bottom part twice, then staple?

>worries about getting cancer from random chemical products
>also wants to sit on duct tape
choose one. how is the tape better?
Duct tape is not free. Your intention is to make an investment into a broken asset (the chair) and end up with a generall, shitty experience.
Better save the expense of duct tape and look at it as a reduction on the price of a new chair (it is not of course, your chair broke, you need a new one, chairs cost what the price tag says, but your stupid mind forces you).

I'm worried about the faux leather ending up in my mouth. It is peeling really bad. It ends up everywhere. I find it in my hair all of the time. The duct tape won't end up everywhere. Besides, the other anon gave me some advice and I already got half of it done! I just need to know how to do the bottom part.

Look at it. It doesn't look normal. I had to pull the arm off. I have a screwdriver, but it didn't work.

That takes a hexagon, like an allen key or so. There might even be an allen key with the chair somewhere if it's Ikea.

It isn't important, anymore. The armchair was already broken, so I don't miss it. How do I wrap up the bottom part of the chair? Do I grab a bedsheet and circle the center part with the wheels?

You sound like the kind of person that swishes mountain dew around their mouth when they have a toothache. I beg you, do not reproduce.

Get one of those temu chair covers. I had the same thing happen to a shitty chair I have and the cover keeps it all nice looking.
